Dholes Hunt Chital
This chital stag is equipped with a nice pair of horns, but it’s not enough to fend off a few hungry dholes attacking it in the brush. The animal eventually crumbles and is killed by the predators. Dholes will sometimes band together to form superpacks of thirty or more animals. They hunt together, share their prey, and then split up again into smaller groups. Inter-pack aggression is uncommon, maybe because neighboring packs are often linked.
This spotted deer is already injured, as it tries to defend itself against a few dholes, as the dholes take shots at the deer, as it tries to repel every attack. The deer seems to have discouraged the dholes, which is a rare occurrence in and of itself, but it can be seen running through the forest and leaving the area, without any dholes chasing it. A gorgeous chital deer uses a waterhole to protect its back, while it faces a few hungry dholes. The chital is ready for a fight, but the holes are not giving the animal anything.
Dholes Attack Gaur
Gaurs are the largest bovines on the planet and in this video, this mother gaur is protecting her calf from hungry dholes. The calf is lying under mom, as she tries to fend off the attacks from all angles. At one point, the dholes grab the calf and pull it away, but drop it when mom almost rams into them. I’m not sure how long Mom will be able to sustain this defense, but it doesn’t look good.
On the side of a hill, where some dholes seem to be busy killing an animal, a huge gaur looks on. It could be the gaur’s calf, but I’m not even sure there is another animal. The only thing I’m sure of is that the dholes are not attacking the large adult gaur. Another huge gaur tries to save her calf, but the calf has already been mangled and is barely alive, as mom still tries to fend off the dholes. Even if the dholes abandon the hunt for some reason, the calf will not survive all the damage it has incurred.
