He’s an exceptionally talented man, and like many actors he has mostly been judged by looks alone for his films. He comes across as much more intelligent than people think he is, and his comedic acting is much harder than you think. His films have been favourites in my family for years. My now grown up kids love his lead character in the film Inkheart (2008) which also starred Helen Mirren and Paul Bethany. I bought the book Inkheart by German children’s author Cornelia Funke to read to my kids when it was first printed (2003 I believe) as my copy is a first edition. Cornelia actually dedicated the trilogy of books (Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath printed by Chicken House Books) to Brendan for giving her a voice to her beloved character Mortimer Folchart. It was sad that due to lack of viewers enthusiasm and his ill health that Brendan couldn’t continue with filming the trilogy. The books I can highly recommend. They are escapism at its best. Every chapter I read I found myself hearing Brendan’s voice say the words coming from my lips. Cornelia once stated that a book is only as big and heavy as the world contained within its pages, waiting to be explored by the reader. I’m inclined to agree with her. And yes, my three first editions of the trilogy are in immaculate condition, and I await being able to read them to my grandchildren in a few years.

@@Jjudes9665 Hi Judith, I am by nature a film buff, as a kid like many, was bullied and brow beaten. With a moderate IQ I muddled through, so escapism was my salvation. Your kind words are so nice to hear, as I have always believed that Brendon was a great actor with a comedic skill few posses. I am saddened that this great actor has been at the bottom end of Hollywood's nonchalence I pray that the up coming movies you mention put him back on top where he belongs.

Everyone deserves a second chance, especially if their downfall is by no means any fault off their own. I’ve led the kind of life that gives me a slightly wisened view of how we humans strive to survive in the crazy world we’ve created. I began reading to my daughter when she was only days old. It’s not what you read, but your tone of voice, and how you entice the listener to pay attention. We read together until she was well into her mid teens. When life berates your life and soul from all directions, it’s good to break away from reality for a few minutes a day. We’re both still avid readers, and my brain can easily devour a couple of good books each week. I once had a boss that was the manager of a bookstore and did not read books of any kind. I’ve never felt so sorry for a person in my life as I did her for not being able to explore the realm of fiction.

My favorite movie of Brenden Fraser's was "School Ties", with Matt Damon playing the asshole, and Ben Affleck, Chris O'Donnell, and the hot guy, Randall Batinkoff, who played Molly Ringwald's boyfriend then husband in "For Keeps" where she gets pregnant in high school. It also started Amy Locane as the Fraser's blonde love interest. It was such a good movie.
