This is a true laptop, with perfect comfort on the lap to use for hours. The MacBook Pro is a kind of hybrid between a desktop and a laptop because of it's extra weight, you'd feel more comfortable putting it on a table.

I appreciate Brian waiting a little bit and using the device before giving a review, I've seen some reviews where they barely used it for 24-hours and have the audacity to claim it's a full review lol. The comparison of display between the 13in MBA M2 with this new 15in really sold me on how nice this new display is.

@@piotrd.4850 I suppose when the XPS, Surface Pro, the Galaxy Book3 Pro, et al also start at 16GB then Apple will follow. Windows has 90% of the market and they lead, Apple follows. So you need to ask Window's OEMs why they don't start at 16GB for most premium ultrabooks. They will probably say the same Apple does, that if they did, they would have to raise the prices, losing demand, so it is a bit like shooting yourself in the foot as the net outcome will be less sales if they raise prices, and if they do not raise prices they will destroy their pro lines as people will just buy the cheaper option.

@@andyH_EnglandApple doesn’t compete with Windows, therefore they are not leading. Apple competes with Windows with their iPads, which have outsold all windows PC’s for the past 13 years. MacBooks are in a different stratosphere, and is Apple’s baby. Comparing the Mac experience to a windows laptop is like comparing a generic club soda to Classic Coke. Don’t ever do it again.

Great video thank you! Honestly, I traded in my 13” M2 air for the 15”. The bigger screen without sacrificing much on the portability side was enough for me to make the switch. And I don’t regret it. I absolutely love my 15” MacBook Air

I also traded the (5 Month Old) 13" M2 MBA for a 15". Lost $315. So what? I think I gained much more. And it fits perfectly in between iPad mini and the MBP16". I'm hoping for an M3 MBA 15" with maybe one more 'C' port. I'll trade up one last time.

Couldn't agree more! "What do you want to do". That's what I always say when friends and family ask what computer should I get. - 20 years ago, picking a computer was different. You had to "Choose a good one". - That's really not the case anymore. Now it's more about picking the proper "Tool" for the task.

What noise were you hearing during your 45 min video export? This is fanless just like the 13's. I got the base 15 midnight a couple days back. Love the screen size and the colour. Haven’t had any performance issues with general work (no content creation). This is the most perfect laptop for me that Apple has made to date.

Bro. I have a 14 in M1Max MacBook Pro...it's so heavy. The battery life takes a hit for that extra capability (even when I'm not doing any intensive work). I want this laptop for all the reasons you mentioned. (Bigger screen, lighter, longer battery life, and still good power! )

The 14 inch macbook pro is "not so heavy". You do know there is only a 0.2 pound difference between the two right? I have both right now as I am testing both of them, and they feel almost the exact same weight wise.

I just got mine, upgrading from a 2012 (I had a gaming PC laptop for a while that i liked, but couldn't stand the off-center trackpad). This thing is pretty amazing, I hope to have it for years. I went to the Apple store to feel the 14" Macbook Pro next to it, but this one is pretty amazing feel and light, so I went with it. So far, so good.

I can assure you, Travis, you will. I had my M1 MacBook Air since 2019 and I upgraded this because God blessed me with opportunity too, but I had no reason to change my laptop because it is absolutely perfect. Happy computing!

I needed a new computer for school, because my HP was getting old and my fan sounded like a jet engine. So my Aunt got me and my sister the MacBook Air 15 inch and it runs really well and is very efficient.

I ordered the MacBook Air 15 inch but with 24GB RAM and leave the 256GB SSD since I have an 5TB external hard drive and seems people worry too much on storage due to only 1 chip which I get but after seeing so many videos and KZfaqrs doing “benchmarks” cause I don’t think I’ll see any difference in the SSD and I’m sure it can run very well with a lot of applications and especially having a gaming monitor so I don’t need a Pro MacBook, yes people will say I should have gone with the Pro but people underestimate how good the M2 Air is and it’s portability, I’d say if you love the M2 Air, go for It, just make sure to get more RAM whether it’s 16 or 24GB rather than storage

Beginning content creator, that’s exactly why I bought it. I bought the 15” 24GB, 512 SSD with the 8/10 core. That way if I break it instead of make it, I still have a laptop to use for day to day stuff that I use my phone for everyday, and I am not invested in an overbuilt Pro where the features won’t get used. And if I make it, then I can always upgrade at a later time. I just started a second channel that I want to use it for, just ordered it Thursday, so still waiting on it. My next purchase will be an actual camera as I only have my iPhone and a GoPro Hero 7 black, as well as a DJI Mini 2 drone.

Two things make me hesitant on going with the 15 MBA. The first is it only supports one external display. I’m guessing it’s a hardware limitation on the entry level SoC line, but just dang. The other is the benchmark tests on the 14 MBP. Apple has similar RAM and storage for what I want (16, 512) on a refurb of those for about $100 more. I need to go to a store and look at these machines to see what the displays are like.

this is a sleek design and bigger display but yeah for not much more you could get the 14" Pro with a better display and faster, more consistent speed but it will be bulkier and the screen is slightly smaller and with less screen area to display icons and web pages despite higher resolution. Not sure if there's a way to scale it to have the same screen area but then everything would be smaller on screen.

With a “ display link” dock and the display link software drivers installed, anyone can run two monitors. Do some research.

Don't know why but I kinda want to get one of these. I have a desktop PC and a Google phone, and I've never owned an apple product sans the iPhone 5S, but I want to try it out. My wife has an iphone and I would only use it for work/conent consumption/light usage, so something baseline like this would be a good first Apple device to try out.

I had the 13" M2 but the speakers were not acceptable so I returned it. I'm now debating between the 14" pro vs the 15" air, and I suspect for the speakers the 14" will be better.

Thank you kindly for a good review! I just bought an Apple MacBook Air M2 15" (arriving in a few weeks), fully specced as my current M1 Air with 16 GB RAM occasionally runs out of application memory. I like the slightly bigger screen yet retaining the light weight. I love my M1 Air, and I'll give it to my wife as her personal laptop, but I've reached the limit of what my M1 Air can cope with from both work (office applications and development) and university studies (mature student). I was ogling the 14" and 16" Pro, but the price is steep once I increase the specs, and I love the light-weight, power, and battery life of the Airs. My days of back-breaking and arm-twisting power-house laptops are over. 🙂

@@mavfan1naw, the M6 or M7 will be more likely to have another generational leap in performance so wait again for that after M3. TSMC should have their 1nm chips in mass production in 2028 or 2029, that's 5-6 years away. Plenty of time for incremental improvements on the m series with 3nm. Going from 5 to 3nm this next year will be pretty massive.

The rumours are that TSMC 3nm will be split into two gens of improvements, the M3 and M4. So neither will be a massive leap. This way Apple/TSMC do not make the tock part of the tick-tock cycle a disaster as the M2 has been, as people avoid the tock always waiting for the tick. Lesson learnt, so waiting will be a mugs game. If you need it now, buy it!

The grills on the MB Pros are not 100% speakers, only the bottom 25% or so. Apple probably decided that the grills attract lint, dust and dirt and maybe they will move away from them even in the Pro models soon?

I watched this on my new 15" Midnight MacBook Air. I have been wanting Apple to make this laptop for ... years. And now that it's finally here, I could not be happier with it. The larger screen is only one benefit. It also enables a larger palm rest and trackpad.. That is how you know Apple cares. Every PC maker would take the same trackpad from the smaller laptop and call it a day. Not Apple. As you said the speakers and battery life are in a class by themselves, and while the screen does not have motion flow and HDR is it's still bright with perfect color calibration. And the performance is there to support support even more sophisticated workflows. Honestly, if I outgrow this MacBook Air, I would probably just supplement its performance with a MacStudio. Then you can have two computers for the price of just that M2 Max MacBook Pro. The more I think about it.. the more I want to order the Mac Studio .. RIGHT NOW! Computing nirvana!

The problem with your ideal configuration proposal is that by increasing the SSD size (from 256g to 512g) and the RAM size (from 8g to 16g) you arrive at the same cost as a 14-inch Macbook Pro M1 (the Pro 14 M1 is still available BRAND NEW from many sellers). And that's where the difference is sore for the 15-inch Air, because the Macbook Pro 14 M1 has a more powerful compute processor, more cores, but also quite a higher mini-LED display quality, a rate of twice the screen refresh, speakers more powerfuls (according to many analysts), fans that protect the computer from overheating (and therefore from slowing down), etc. The Pro 14 M1 has the same webcam as the 15. The only advantages of the 15 are its weight and its screen which is 1 inch larger.

@@paulwoaert Yes, actual surface area is much more than what it seems, if you were to learn basic math. Reassure myself? To who? You? You probably can't even buy one of these laptops. I was on the fence between a base 14" and a specced out 15". I chose the 15" because again 1. larger screen 2. much thinner 3. much lighter 4. more portable 5. can actually use it on my lap and 4. because I like the design better. Now I'm chilling with a 15" 16gb/1tb. I can return it at any time, so why would I reassure myself? I had the money to buy either one and I chose the better one. Keep cying

The Air isn’t your machine. You do heavy video production? Get the Pro. You need a machine to do all your online tasks, running a business, taxes, correspondence, work your iPhone photos and consume content and all of that with MacOS? Enter the Air! I stop a video now when the videoing about comparing a new product constantly to another line up of that manufacturer. I want to learn about that NEW product! And here the best example the commentator before you. The result of videos with the Titel: The truth about the all new MacBook 15 inch (M2) - don’t buy the wrong one!

I plan to get M2 Max 16 inch MacBook Pro to be the only device for me to game and work, game like Death Stranding, and using Mac Porting Toolkit to play the Metal Gear Solid Master collections and maybe even the remake, RE remakes and many more too instead of a Steam Deck in addition, is it good? I not sure where I will move to, a PS5 seem not ideal at the moment unless it is free for me! And should I get PS5 standard or Edge controller? When will M3 Max chip release because it seem like it will be the one to have Ray Tracing hardware and with it, I can future proof my Mac even further, should I wait?

16GB RAM is not standard. It’s 8GB. And for what I do with browsing and modest photo editing and minimal coding? This 8GB RAM sings with this chip.

You say you used a version of the Air 15 with more storage and RAM than the base version. If it got a little hotter (as you say) during the video export process, won't it get even hotter with the base 8g 256g version ?

It will meet its thermal overhead quicker with a base model due to the lower RAM, so should thermal throttle before the 16GB version. Apple uses AI to control the heat, so it will get hotter within accepted (tested) limits, and will then power throttle to lower those temps. The net result is lower RAM will mean longer export times, but nothing to worry about if you are doing 4K or less and you are not a pro user. If you are doing renders all day, then you should be looking at a Pro model as that has active cooling. The Law of Common Sense applies.

I had my MacBook Air 15 inch for about 4 days now with the 24GB RAM and I gotta say WOW! The Max RAM is so worth than the SSD upgrade, it’s super fast loading times and definitely worth the upgrade from my MacBook Air 2020 Intel version and will definitely have it for a long time!

I’m a video editor, and can’t decide myself between getting the air 15” maxed out, or the base MacBook Pro M2. Can someone advice me? I think it’s a about a $1,000 difference

Base MacBook Pro. The MacBook Air has no fan so the CPU throttles after 5 minutes. The Pro has everything you need as an editor. The 14” is worth it as well. Make sure to upgrade the ram. 16gb is great but 32gb or more is better if you can afford it.

It is, this guy never bothered to read the spec sheet. 😂 what a review. he also didn’t mention the fact that the base storage processes at half the speed of any of the expanded storage options.

In my opinion, this color is the worst color produced by Apple in its history. It is dark and depressing and collects fingerprints terribly. It can be scratched and scratches appear clearly, no matter how minor.
