This is an excellent description for developing the Lagrangian equation. As a suggestion, the board work is good but it could be organized better by slightly shifting what you have already written to give more space between lines. Great job!

how would you parameterize f(x, y) as f(t), so that I could look at what f(t) actually is in this case? is there a specific parameterization you used? also i am confused why you used t/5 for the angle instead of just t

Once we have a parametrization r(t) = like I showed in the video, we can immediately plug in f(x, y) = f(x(t), y(t)) using x(t), y(t) from the parametrization. The visual that I used at 3:08 is not actually 6x+8y because I set it up to match the graph that I drew on the board. For the second question, see 7:04 to 7:37

I worked with the generalized version of the Lagrangian for convex optimization in my thesis. The texts “Convex Functions” by Roberts and Varberg and “Primal-Dual Interior Point Methods” by Stephen Wright are excellent reading for seeing the theory and an application of that theory.

My high school had a calculus class that went up through some multivariable stuff up to double integrals, so that's the first time that I learned about them
