Wolves are magnificent creatures and formidable hunters. They are efficient and strategic, and when they target prey, they usually don’t miss. If you’re in the mood to watch the wolfpack in action, you’re at the right place, so let’s get started.

Wolves Attack Musk Oxen
The wolves rally the family to go hunting and the “spy wolf” is watching as the “snowy owl spy” is filming from up above. It can fly long-range and cruise at 15 miles per hour. It’s perfect for tracking wolves on the move. The wolves have 75 thousand square miles to hunt in. They head into the wind to try and catch a scent. It’s a testing time for such tiny pups. Musk oxen are prime prey for arctic wolves. Downwind, the wolves are difficult to detect, but musk oxen are easily spooked. So, the wolves carefully take up the position. selecting the young or the sick, but the pups have yet to learn the rules. Their cover is blown and the herd clusters together. Forming a protective circle around their calves. The wolves surround them.
This time, the pups remain still. The pack plans its next move as they split the herd, as the pups watch and learn. They’ve singled out the oldest ox. But a fully-grown musk ox weighs 400 kilos and can kill a wolf and its thick woolly coat is almost impenetrable. Their aim is to tire her out. The wolves at the front keep the musk ox distracted, and those at the back anchor her down. Such battles can last an hour. Exhausted, she gives up the fight. The musk ox is huge and powerful and has a large coat to protect it, so when these four arctic wolves decide to attack this musk ox, they are in for a treat, and the kind they expect.
The musk ox fights like a beast and fends off all the attacks, even though the wolves are aggressive and don’t let up. It takes some time, but the wolves eventually get the job done. Muskoxen males stand five feet at the shoulder and weigh a massive 800 pounds. Aside from polar bears, they are the largest animals that roam the arctic tundra, but even they are vulnerable to predators. A pack of arctic wolves catches the herd and defies it, but the muskoxen scramble to form a defensive ring. The adults equipped with long hooked horns are more than a match for the war, but it’s not the adults the wolves are after.
The herd panics and runs. It is a fatal mistake. Their lines are broken, so they cannot protect their young. The wolves separate a calf from the rest of the herd and the wolves make a kill. When two wolves manage to isolate a musk ox calf, the herd comes running to its rescue and chases the wolves away, forcing them to abandon the hunt. The musk oxen maintain their motto “one for all and all for one” and prove it in this video. Some wolves are on the hunt in this video and experts observe a male wolf and his mate kill a musk ox. Later, they find them feeding on an adult musk ox they killed. I guess you could say it was a good day at the office for these wolves.
Wolf Attacks Moose
When a pack of wolves attacks her calf, the mother of a newborn moose seeks to interfere, but I feel it is too late. The wolves kill the young moose even when the mother attacks. They just avoid being squashed by the mother's strong legs and swallow the calf. The huge moose returns several times to defend her kid, but she is unsuccessful each time. Some people came around a corner in the road near the Montana-Idaho border and observed two fully grown wolves attempting to bring down a moose. They stayed for almost twenty minutes and then watched the moose limp away. When some wolves spy on a moose mom and her calf on a riverbank, they try to figure out how to take the calf, but the mom is massive and won't let them get close to the baby without a battle. The wolves decide it's too dangerous and swim to the other side.

Merciless, Brutal. These aren't the words that come to my mind when I see a wolf pack. They are the words I would use for the environment they have to survive in. Brutal weather, merciless hunger if they don't find prey. Predators are an important part of the survival of all of the animals by taking out the sick and the weak prey. I may stand alone but I think wolfs are beautiful majestic animals that only kill to defend themselves and their families or for food.

It depends on where you live ,,, to make a statement like - they have it so hard surviving is to be so ignorant of this subject that just maybe you should think about keeping that hoster closed … wolves do a lot of damage to the people that feed your D A and as your seeing with the grizzlies,,, wolves if not hunted stop being afraid of us and start killing shit close to us … it should be only the people that live in these areas should have a right to vote on these issues… NOT PEOPLE THAT LIVE 14 HOURS AWAY…. How would New York folks like to have a group that don’t even live in the state vote to have grizzlies brought back into the area …. What’s worse is the only reason it could happen is because they don’t have the millions of dollars to pay attorneys to pay judges in some closed meetings half way around the country…. It’s not right people and more has to be done to help these families that wolves are taking millions of dollars from their families and their way of life… ITS NOT RIGHT AND IF THE DAM THINGS ARE STRUGGLING TO SURVIVE,,,ITS CAUSE SOMEONE MADE THE STUPID DECISION TO PUT THEM IN THAT SITUATION…

Yup and that's on the owner for leaving their dog out alone... I don't understand how farmers could be so dumb enough to think one dog will be enough. Obviously 3 or 4 and you'd be great even 2 they'd have at least a fighting chance so the owner hopefully hears it. 1 is absolutely dumb in wolf and or bear country. Terrible owner tbh but in some places its better their dog than a cow or sheep... Especially if you dont have the huge dogs i forget the name but from the middle east or a doggo argentino or a big pit/bully type, mastiff, a shepard, maybe malinois or a big akita. Even for those dogs to just have one out is pretty dumb the stupidity pisses me off tbh.

I agree. Without them, over populations of other animals would damage the ecosystem. We would be culling them even more. At our expense. In the lower 48, there is culling in some areas. No predators in the mix. Except us. Benefits us really. Food. In Alaska, reindeer sausage available in restaurants. Deer not commercially available in a restaurant or grocery store. We just share amongst ourselves. I can't explain the exchange rate. Trading deer meat made into something. For something else. Hush hush.

I can also say. In Alaska, as surrounded, a pack did not attack me. Camping out. I threw them beef jerky. I was on my way to Denali. Stopped along a bush road. The mosquitos more intolerable. I was well armed, not afraid. The pack very polite. I threw them jerky. They toddled off. After a half hour or so. I didn't have to fire a shot. I could have killed all of them. In a minute, I just fed them. They sniffed around my truck later. But went away. It is hard to sleep. In the Bush. For me, a few hours. Never outside my truck. Safer. Mosquitos more annoying. 🙄

@@thierrynolevaux9268 Well, try being a homeless teenager in large city in America. Humans are far more dangerous. A long story. Back then(1984), I was able to live on about 14.00 a week. Now I own a 3 story home, and work as an international food shipping manager. Put myself through college, and survived the military. That was 38 years ago. I made my own success. I will just say, I help give millions of pounds of food away, across the country. Been homeless. What I grow at home? That is mostly donated. We only keep what we need. Every year, as a company, we take wishlists for toys, food, and clothing. Including cold weather gear. The looks of the families faces enough to make me feel more alive than camping. Free to them. Luckily, none of them in Burkina Faso. Why were those women and girls not under armed protection? For men, guns and knives are their claws. I will always be armed. As an expoliceman here, my nightstick and big flashlight, all I ever needed to use. Never had to draw my gun once. Lucky for them, and a relief to me. A marksman. In any bush country, or city, your chances for survival is low. If unarmed. On another notable situation, think how Ukranians would be? Without our guns. Could you feel alive in the woods there? My point. Same outside usually, wherever.

Not at all true. I and many others have been close to wolf pups, some only weeks old and never did the wolves attack or even growl. I actually had a pack bring their pups to the shore to drink where I was observing them from a boat a few feet away. Several wolf researchers have gone into the dens to film and observe litters without being attacked.

I didnt realise wolfs can run as fast as that, surely theres not many dogs that could go as fast as a wolf? And if it does then it wouldnt last as long. What stamina and strength and speed these wolfs have. I was suprised when that wolf pulled that dog off its chain. And it only took seconds, the dog must have been dead as its chain was pulled off the wall. A would prefer a rottweiler to bite me than a wolf. Plus did you see how fast that timber wolf could fight? It was beating the grey wolf easy! It could have killed it. And it looked really big, and the grey wolf is big!

Good how? Wolves have dangerous, hard lives and are openly persecuted throughout the year, not only in hunting season. Wolves are no less important than bears, foxes, lions, hyenas and any other predator. They bring balance to an ecosystem, Your comment reveals you to be ignorant about natural history and predator/prey relationships. Maybe do some research before commenting on something you know little if nothing about.

Wolves are a lot bigger than people think and are quite capable of killing even large dogs but it rarely happens. They are pack hunters and work together to bring down prey. 21 people have been killed by wolves since records have been kept in North America and there have been no fatalities in the lower 48 in over a century.
