If last stands can also include not necessarily dying last stands... then River in Serenity is absolutely epic. But yes, out of this list it should have Leonidas.

I always thought Optimus Prime at the battle of Autobot city in The Transformers: The Movie was an epic last stand. He essentially had to take on most of the Decepticon ranks including Megatron in order to save the Autobots from certain death. So brave, so badass!

Regarding T2, Dyson wasn't holding any detonator over explosives. He was holding a broken piece of a large-scale CPU chip that he was developing, and dropped that on the detonator. * 5:31 You even show a shot of Dyson smashing the model where the piece came from.

Unforgiven : one of the best movies ever made. Munny (Eastwood) told the biographer that he always seemed to be lucky in things like that (meaning, gunfights.) I loved his character b/c he was stoic, brave, loyal, fair, and a bit broken with glaring imperfections, yet he strived to be a better man; and he certainly evened scores that needed settling. I had this movie on vhs tape and found myself watching it over & over.

Black Hawk Down!? The two snipers who willingly get out of their helicopter to help save the downed helicopter pilot at the crash site. They took out so many guys before dying and giving him a chance to survive. He was captured and beaten but was saved eventually and it would not of happened without those two doing what they did. Plus "based on real events" as the movie states if that is true then they are real life heros, like every other soldier who willingly goes into the service.

As awesome as Randy Quaid’s last stand is, it originally had him showing up to the battle with missiles strapped to the sides of his crop duster; it was ridiculous and completely implausible for the thing to maneuver through the ensuing battle and to make that vertical climb into the exposed bottom of the ship, not to mention turning a heroic sacrifice, into just a drunk shenanigan

I don't know about bada$$, but one of the funniest last stands is when... Larry Faces Vito Weekend At Bernie's Johnathan Silverman's Richard finds a big accounting error at the insurance company he works. His buddy, Andrew McCarthy's Larry, is along for the ride as the lazy half of the duo. After a series of increasingly absurd events, Don Calfa's Vito, who killed Bernie much earlier, keeps coming back to Bernie's to kill him again when the guys+ make him look alive. In the end though, Larry bests Vito with a telephone wire and Manos de Pietros, Fists of Steel, as Larry put it.
