@@cherrycrystalssilvertears Selling it to a pawn shop isn't the only option either. I get tired of people hating on a company for saying "this is how much I am willing to pay for that item", regardless if the offer is half or even one tenth the value of the item. The pawn shops are not a charity. They have every right to make the offer they want to make. These people are under absolutely no obligation of selling at that price, and more often than not, get a free appraisal out of the deal.

their information is wrong though. the cigar box that sold for $575k wasnt the one rick bought, it was the one that JFK kept in the private office and it was sold in 1997. I think the one they bought on the show, which was more of a decorative piece for the oval office and not the one JFK used personally, sold for like $80k

You don’t get how pawn shops work at all dude. Pawn shops are supposed to be a last resort to sell your stuff you no longer want or need. In order for a pawn shop to succeed, they need to sell things for below their RRP unless it’s a collector item in order for their products to be appealing. That’s why they give like 25% of the price

I was going to say - there's 2 issues with this video, that being the first one... The second being the last item, claiming that the JFK Cigar Box was sold for $575k at auction, uhhh I was just watching a compilation episode on YT and saw a customer come in wanting to purchase the cigar box. He paid $80k for it and Rick was the one that completed the deal as he was called over by one of his guys, Jessie if I'm not mistaken.

Well it's a pawn shop. they need to make money, In an auction you lose more since you pay all the feeds. However I agree that 24,000 is practically stealing from a 40,000 value item.. Maybe 33,000 would of been better however the point of pawn shops is that desperate people need cash quick and so they usually get robbed there. Honestly if I was selling something that is 40,000 of value then I would spend time putting ads or tracking down buyers or collectors, go to auction, and car/gun/shows and make contacts, It will take a few months but eventually you will get offers and when multiple buyers want it in their collection of cool stuff then you can always haggle prices and you maybe get way more then 40,000$ when you hold all the cards.

The 1921 piece dollars were all high relief. I have two in my own collection. The high relief was a bit harder to do but that was not why the mint stopped the high relief in 1921. They would not stack at the banks properly or anywhere for that matter ,everybody complained. A few 1922 high relief were minted thus making this coin so rare and valuable. Similarly, the Steel cents of WW2 minted 1943 were minted because copper was needed for the war effort. Most folks hated them and tossed them in a drawer and forgot about them. Thus so many were saved they are not worth much. I have 3 in my collection, one from Philadelphia mint, San Francisco mint, and one from Denver mint. However a few, by mistake, 1944 steel cents were minted and extremely rare and valuable.

Andrew Woodhall 1 million $ gold bars actually aren’t that crazy of a concept. The standard sized gold bricks used by most central banks are 400 oz. at a price of 1800/oz that’s 720,000$. Close enough to 1 million. It’s pretty likely that they’ll be worth a million within our lifetime.
