I think it's best recommended to disable the Shield Core first as it blocks all possible routes leading to Nexus, I always remind my fellow rebels to deactivate the force-fields first and then after we deactivate them, we send group of marksmen and RPG crew to the rooftops to create havoc on possible routes the Combine will use and provide fire support for the ground teams

Yeah, with the new forcefields rebels have a much better chance, and it's more challenging for combine to guard all routes! A single RPG rebel on the roofs can be devastating for the combine.
