Why These Hollywood Actors Didn't Want To Shoot These Scenes!
Today, we’re taking a look at scenes that actors straight up refused to shoot for movies and tv shows! Gal Gadot was a real life Wonder Woman when she stood up for herself and her character by refusing to do a scene that she felt sexualized her character too much. Anna Kendrick followed suit when she turned down a romantic storyline that she felt could send the wrong message in Pitch Perfect 3. When Matthew Perry was filming the sitcom Friends, he shut one storyline down before they had even gone to camera!
There are many actors who also refuse to do nudity in their projects - some because they aren’t comfortable with it and others because they think that seeing a character so exposed takes away from the comedic integrity. Emily Blunt is one of those actors - she refuses to shoot anything in the nude unless it’s central to the plot of the story. Rebel Wilson and Isla Fisher aren’t against nudity in films, but they aren’t comfortable with doing it themselves so they opt not to - Wilson even has it written into her contract!
Taron Egerton faced an uncomfortable situation with a specific scene she had to shoot in Kingsman: The Secret Service, so he chose to step back and the person who took over him was both surprising and close to the production! When Mahershala Ali was offered The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, he actually refused to do a scene before even accepting the job due to his religious beliefs.

I totally agree with not doing scenes that overly sexualize women and make no sense in the plot. It's sad that they still threaten actresses with ruining their careers for refusing to be disrespected. I'm very glad Benicio supported Emily, unfortunately most of the time, no one cares about what a woman thinks unless a man supports her.

I’m glad Michelle refused that would make no fucking sense! Brian is mia’s husband and he wouldn’t cheat (I don’t know what movie they would do that so idk if they were married but still) and Obviously RIDE OR DIE why the hell would she ever do that!? That would have made me and a lot of other fans of fast and furious pissed!

I can't figure for the life of me why movie makers seem to feel every movie has to have nudity or sex in it? I'm definitely not a prude but I agree with if it doesn't have to do with the plot it's not necessary

Much respect to Gal Gadot and Michelle Rodriguez on those decisions. Diana and Letty each maintained a prominent role in the films they were in, and those scenes would have needlessly underserved the integrity of those characters.

can we just take a moment of pride in these women for standing their ground? i want to be an actress someday and it is my greatest fear that I'll feel pressured into doing a scene that I'm not comfortable with, especially since I'm a Christian.

It’s not at all cultural, it was because she was pregnant at the time of the shooting of Wonder Woman. Also I do agree that she would’ve felt uncomfortable with a man on top of her. But it was more about her pregnancy :)

i personally beleive that if you read a script and see there is a nudity scene... sign on to do the movie, its on you to do the scene. you knew it was in the movie. last minute stuff that are creative to be added while shooting are different, you can talk about not wanting to do something because it makes you comfortable, but if you knew about it before agreeing to the movie. you should not be so upset when the scene comes up.

i find it weird that so many people are opposed to nudity and or sexuality. its like the most normal everyday thing there is... after eating of course. sure, in most movies it is not "needed" and sometimes it gets put in to fill a checkbox. but so many movies miss out on good opportunities to ground their stories in reality, just to get that pg13 rating instead of embracing their adult subject matter. as an example that does it right: "Two Lovers and a Bear" fair warning though, its not a comedy and her outburst at the end kept haunting me for well over a year.

Okay I came here for the thumbnail scene and all that jazz. I am looking for the over sexualization in the scene. Like seriously doesn't exist in the scene, not on its face at least. Now with certain context maybe I am wrong, but then it isn't the scene itself but a part of what makes the scene that is the issue. Either way, non sense.

Gal Gadot's name is Hebrew, not French. The t is by no means silent. Y'all do all of this behind the scenes research and can't even say the actress's name right? It really is not that hard. It is said how it's spelled! And what exactly are the good reasons not to shoot the Friends episode you mentioned? Can't handle the slightest implication that a character might have even the tiniest chance of being gay? You posted this during Pride Month. Gross.

You are supposed to act professional on set if you feel you can't handle a scene then just walk away from the character. eg if am an actor and there is a gay scene I just don't sign up for the role.
