No- the video misses out Charles apart from one brief mention of him at 2:25 and even briefer one at the very end, and that's just an add-on rather than a proper look at the notion of abdication. Regardless of whether or not you think he could or should abdicate, the video is making a massive assumption and missing out someone that the UK has been assuming for the last 70 years *will* be king. But maybe TheTalko has a massive scoop that no-one else has been privy to- in which case it really deserves more views. That, or they don't think photos of Charles & Camilla would get many clicks and are thus happy to play fast & loose with the facts.

Gacha_Cookie 1) If he does abdicate, it isn’t just “Hey your King son” then leaves. It has to go through Parliament. 2) Prince Charles has to have a good and legitimate reason to abdicate. Just not wanting to be King is not a good reason. 3) Prince William has to agree to take the throne because he might not be ready.

The current William would actually be “King William the V”, NOT “The IV”. We’ve already had a William “the IV” - he ruled in the early-mid 1800’s, directly before Queen Victoria (who was his niece). He was George the IIIs son, and ruled after his brother, George the IV - who is often best known for being Prince Regent.

I love how hard this video is being criticized. Also she kept saying "IF he becomes king..." it's not a matter of IF but of WHEN. Charles will be before William, unless he dies before his mother or abdicates the throne when it's his turn.

Klaus Köhl nope. it goes to the eldest son, then since he’s king it goes to *his* eldest son, and so on. so after William and all of his kids have ruled (just pretending here that by this point those kids don’t have kids), then it would go to Harry, then his kids. again, if for some reason the royal line stopped there, then the next in line would be Queen Elizabeth’s next son, prince Andrew, and his descendants.

While Prince Charles COULD abdicate to make way for William, it is very unlikely that he will do so. Abdication is considered to be a selfish choice and is widely regarded as the harshest act of disloyalty to the Crown, as it basically means denouncing the responsibility placed on them by God and forces the next in the line of succession to ascend to the throne as Sovereign before they are ready. Charles would never disrespect his mother or the Monarchy as a whole by choosing to abdicate and he would never place that burden on his son's shoulders until he had no other choice. No royal wants to be the Sovereign. There is nothing good about being the ruler of a nation, it is a soul-sucking position that forces you to abandon emotion and replace it with mindless complacency, taking away your right to an opinion and the free time you may wish to spend with your family. While there are many things that people can hold against Prince Charles, nobody can deny that he is a loving father and he would never burden his son with the weight of that responsibility, not until he is carried away in a wooden box himself.

My school allows helicopters to land as it is the closest large area to the hospital. Prince William piloted during a helicopter visit a few years ago and the school invited him for lunch. He was so humble and kind to the students and staff.

The queen has not reigned for over 70 years. She became queen in 1952. That's not over 70 years. I was born in 1949 and I'm not 70 yet.

It's Kensington Palace, not Kessington Place ! No a Catholic can no longer be removed from the line of succession . If born after October 2011, they are eligible for succession, even if they are Catholic. Rule of succession changed in 2011. Look it up, Talko !

When Charles and Camilla were married it was announced that when Charles ascends to the throne, she would be known as princess consort. They might choose to change that but given that there are still strong feelings about Diana I think she will choose to be a princess consort instead of Queen. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I don't like it when uninformed Americans talk about royalty... it's pronounced "loo-ee", not "loo-is", a male consort is not at all guaranteed to be a Prince and will likely never be given the title Prince Consort again, and she keeps saying "if William becomes king". The Duke of Cambridge certainly will be King🙄 he's second in line to the throne... when Charles dies William will ascend. Also, he almost certainly will take the name William, as Arthur, Philip and Louis are not names of past British monarchs

@@reecemesser 1) Prince William's full name is: William Arthur Philip Louis. 2) On accession to the throne, the new monarch gets to pick which name they will be known by. 3) The name doesn't even have to be one they already have. 4) Standard protocol is to pick a name that appears in the British Royal line. This is not a rule (the Crown is considered above all law and rule except divine) so Prince William could therefore choose to be known as King Arthur. He could even pick a name that doesn't appear in the British Monarch history, such as King David. The choice is his. In short, he can change his name. Just like you can with deed poll. Except he does so easier.

There is no way Prince Charles would abdicate the throne. He has already admitted in several interviews that he looks forward to reigning, and has several ideas of how he wants the monarchy to modernize. We will definitely have a King Charles...or whatever name he chooses to go by.
