I've been living in Brunei for more 20 years. From what I can say is. The Sultan is a good ruler, beloved by his citizens and residents. About the last question? He did gives charity. Way a lot more than what you guys think. It's just that He's so humble that not many people knows about it.

I think as a king, he hould make his charities public so as to shut the critics up. Because this Practice of Giving charity with your right hand while your left hand is unware per Islamic sayings(if I'm not mistaken) is completely Alien to westerners. He(Sultan) simply does not parade his charity works. Try google his previous donations,etc.. for some public info.

Johan Ashmawi what do you mean unware? also about giving charity out in public, there is a lot uncovered in news (locally and some outside news) that HM gives out rather a lot to His citizen, residents and also to countries and states that needed. Maybe that news doesn't spread far to western hemisphere(there's many reason for that) but let me tell you this. Some people will not be happy in either way as to speak about what He done.... if HM parade His charity and public, He will be branded as showoff or unsincere by outside news. If HM hide the charity, the outside news will call Him stingy, cruel, etc. The thing is it's hard to make people understand Him especially the outside news. They rather put up some big, impact news such as his "too expensive" car collection but they don't count His contribution has far outweigh the cost of all of His cars.

it was a typo. I meant to say, "Unaware". Since I believe, in Islam it teaches to Make charity quitely without boasting. Anyway.. I agree. Westerners won't be happy with him regardless. And there are Agenda to take down what's left of south east asian monarchies. There's such movements in Malaysia and Thailand,perhaps even cambodia? anyway, we just need to be more aware of such propaganda.

I’ve recently visited Brunei Darussalam and stayed in the Capital and in a Resort in the Temburong National Park(Ulu Ulu Temburong) I must say it’s a beautiful place and I’ve enjoyed my stay in Brunei.

He's a wonderful person who helps his people. I lived in Brunei for a few years and I had fun and made many friends. I even attended the Michael Jackson concert for free!!! I was one of the last few people that gain entry to the stadium. It was one of the best times of my life.

I've been living in brunei all my life and this a lot of stuff I didn't know about him and this is the first time I ever searched on youtube about the sultan, one of the best part is the michael jackson one, god I remembered watching him perform live on stage when I was a kid, I'm forever grateful to the sultan for that.Also the sultan just seem so active for his old age doing a lot of things, I always thought he was invincible. He really looks like a hero to his citizens for some reason. Lastly to answer the question at the end of the video, girl, he does waaaaaaaaay tooo much charitable stuff, I feel like he's spoiling his citizens, ya know.

Its also because we are a religious country. In islam beliefs, suicide will guarantee you a trip to hell forever and most of us are scared about that. However, there are many i know who have depression and extreme stress still. This is mainly because, even though we our healthcare and education (we are even paid to go to school) are free. Jobs in brunei is getting lesser by the day and students who all got free education are now unemployed. Parents also have higher expectations as many others in the previous generation when unemployment wasnt a big problem, have succeeded and gotten a job.

He doesn’t look down onto his people but spent his time on his birthday under the hot sun for many days going to watch each districts’ performances (the place we perform is under the hot sun but we have camp and stages) and they are on the ground, once the performances is finished, he will walk around the area to allow his people to take pictures with him and provide food for everyone there

He has equally spent the wealth on his people, No Tax, Free Education, Free health care - everything is paid for. He has invested billions knowing that the oil will run out. Although he has a mega palace - he lives in smaller accommodations at the back so it is said (needs verification). He is also a qualified commercial pilot. He has spread the wealth amongst his people as a true good ruler should do. Allah bless him and keep him safe - Ameen. I wish I could meet him one day.

I wonder how many people know that 40-50% of Brunei's Oil and Gas wealth actually also goes to the British and Dutch oil companies (SHELL). Brunei gets about $3-5 billion a year, the Sultan keeps between $1.5-$2 billion, while the country spends about $2.8-$3.8 billion a year on its yearly budget. The Sultan keeps the huge chunk also as the country's national reserve, during both 1997/1998 and 2008/2009 financial crisis, the Sultan used billions of dollars of the money he kept, to ensure that the Brunei economy would not crash or go into debt and suffer inflation. Brunei has the last and oldest real Monarchy in the World. The Sultan and most of his family are the descendants of the first people in Brunei and North Borneo. My loyalty to the Sultan comes free of charge.

Brunei is a wealthy country only because of its natural resources. peoples are living wealthy lives just because of this reason. Sultan hasn't been done anything special for making their living prosperous. Brunei's growth rate is -2%. How long will it sell its oil and gas reserve to provide or blind the people. we will see. Brunei has a threatening future.

And actually during Hari Raya celebration he open the palace for 3 days, for the people to enter and greet him. He also prepare a lot of best food for the guest like chicken, fish, lamb, shrimp and others. He also prepare gift like cake n money for the young people.

I worked in Brunei for 4 years and six months. I worked in a decent Bruneian state school and I worked for the Bruneian M.o.E as an English language curriculum advisor. I served HM too as the Chief IGSCE Oral Examiner for Belait District (KB and Seria, the oil regions) and an 'O' Level examiner upon the Cambridge model. He came to our school in 2013 and was a very nice man. I met him then. He is quite dimunutive in stature and very softly spoken. One day, we were all called into the dewan ( school hall). We were each given a gold watch with his face on. Brunei is a very safe and peaceful place. It is also very boring. However, if one crosses the border to Miri in Malaysia, it becomes crazy town. I sometimes miss my Bruneian days. Great for golf, tennis, diving, all sports and really nice people. The Sultan was a good boss and a responsible leader. I forgot to mention that at that time, as Brunei is a family orientated state, I got a very generous allowance for my wife and kids AND an international school school allowance. Do not believe the Western bs about Brunei: it is a nice little safe country.

2:55 that palace shown from above is NOT Istana Nurul Iman. Its Istana Negara in Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur for Malaysia's king. Look at the top of the frame you can see dense city buildings. Bandar Seri Begawan is not as densely developed as Kuala Lumpur City

My dad used to work in Brunei. Back in 2005, when I went to visit my parents in Brunei, I got ill and had to stay in the hospital for 3 months. Guess how much was the hospital bill? $1 Brunei dollar. Now if that isn't charity, then I don't know what is, and I am not even a Bruneian. The Education is free for everyone. And I have heard from many that the Royal Treasury pays the Tuition for anyone who wishes to study abroad or if has to get medical treatment abroad.

The picture of Sultan Brunei's palace is wrong. Its not his palace. Its the palace of Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia. How doe i know it ? 1. Brunei does not have sky scrappers building, their building is regulated to be not taller thn the mosque minarets in Brunei Darussalam which hold the title for the tallest building structures in Brunei. 2. The picture was the picture of the latest Royal Palace for Malaysia's Yang Di-Pertuan Agong. 3. The picture clearly shows the Kuala Lumpur Tower and Petronas Twin Tower in it.

Regardless what gender or background you are, Bruneian enjoys 0% taxes for very long time, free educational, Free medical treatment and thats what made Brunei's poverty lower or almost 0% with no homeless or beggar on the street . Under HM's benovelences, HM transforms Brunei Darussalam as world 4th richest nation According to 2017 International Montery Fund once again and it is the world wealthiest government with 0% debts that also own as Brunei's land..Thts Proved.. His leadership style absolutely the greatest when u look from the inside. Evry Brunei and residents proud of HM!! Blessed the sultan!!

Raven Blackheart FYI I don't hate Brunei, but here is a reality check in bullet points: -recent fall in price of oil and gas, really effected Brunei GDP since more than 70% of income are from O&G. -Brunei has no income/sales tax, free education for locals, that could change, since Brunei has been on a Budget seficit since oil crisis -the sultan/govenrment has since reduce its spending (althoufh still lavish), also hv sold numerous overseas assets -despite plans to announce foreign investors, brunei is seen as one of the hardest environment to do business (population, culture, politics) by foreign investors -attempt to make it a tourist destination will likelt fail, since brunei runs under sharia law, even alcohol and christmas is prohibited -also, very expensive exhange rates -since Brunei is pumping more oil than before, oil reserved predicted to below in 20 years -losing skilled workforce since brunei work culture are local focused. citizenship or pr is almost impossible. there's also politics thst prevent lower skilled labour to reach its way up.

Being a Bruneian, our Sultan is possible the most giving ruler. He has helped his people in every way that he could and listens to his citizens, hes given houses for those who are in need and has donated so much to the poor, not just in Brunei but outside as well. He is incredibly humble and loves to interact with his citizens, joins in as much events as he can. And plus the michael jackson concert in 1995 or something was free for his citizens... so

Bruneian r really lucky... Free healthcare, free education, no income tax, no property tax, car is cheap, oil around 50cent per litre, subsidize water and electric supply, got $1000 just for having a baby... god knows what more they being spoiled by the Sultan... I get all that information by visited the country few years ago...
