I remember hearing the original as a teen and balling my eyes out because my dad was in hospice, with less than a week left, with cancer from 9/11 when it was first released. He was a first responder firefighter and nyc local iron worker. He was working close to the site when it happened. He stayed for the whole duration of clean up as well. I remember this song would come on during the anniversary yearly and as proud as I would be to have a dad who gave his life to try to save people, it still haunts me a bit and kills me to hear from the perspective of a child growing up fatherless i wish there had been more precautions and warning to the cleanup crews. 💔 I'm happy this song was released it made me feel a lot less alone it's a song that comes to mind a lot when I'm thinking of him 💕

I lost my dad june 6th 2023. Just before midnight. He was 59 years old. And although i am very very blessed to have memories of him when i was a kid, teen , adult it still hurts. 😢 every single day. It could have been avoided. And it wasnt his time to go. This song has a big place in my heart because when the world trade centers were hit it shook not only the US, but canada aswell. My dad made a Website dedicated to the world trade center and FB page also later down the road. He made a tribute video , i still have one of their coins they sold for donations to this day. I was 11 when it happened. And i showed him the original "its been a year daddy video". He broke instantly thinking of all the dads that wouldnt come home. He talked to firefighters and NYPD to help with his tribute video and the names on it. The song he used for the video was enya only time . Unfortunately, youtube removed it years ago for copyright.
