Great tour! Your hydrangea collection is inspiring! I have room for more hydrangeas but I’m tired of digging holes! I planted two peach trees and a Japanese maple and some supertunias this weekend and I’m exhausted! I could not imagine planting all those hydrangeas! I still have some Chinese fringe to plant and some Huecheras to plant. Loving the videos!

Love, love your roses. They look so full and gorgeous. Please don't pull out Jude or just relocate it :). Jude is doing so well in my yard and smells so nice. I miss your beautiful Eden too. Thank you for the video.

Regarding the Japanese maple, it's funny : Before you asked to remove the lower branches, I thought to myself: It's beautiful, but I would cut off the lower branches. 😄

Dear Laura, no, please do not remove the boxwoods! You can cut them into beautiful balls, this looks so pretty with the plants behind them. They give a formal character to the arrangement with the roses and hydrangeas. I have one more question: Don't you have any problems with nudibranchs in Georgia? Or the boxwood borer? Doesn't you have this plague? Every morning I collect countless nudibranchs that eat on my hostas and asters. I can understand that you love hydrangeas. I also like them very much. Do you know the variety "Vanilla Fraise"? This is a panicle hydrangea. I love her, first she is white and then gets pink tips, looking like a strawberry. I let purple geranium climb up on them, which looks so beautiful, because they bloom together. I am happy about each of your videos, you and your husband have created a real paradise there at the edge of the forest. Very pretty. ❤️

You have a lovely garden and your love of it is evident in its beauty. I wasn’t sure if you are aware the American Hydrangea Society is located in the Atlanta area. We meet 3 times a year, February, April and October at the Atlanta History Center. We also have a annual garden tour the second Saturday in June, this year on June 11,2022. We have 5 gardens on tour in the northern suburbs of Atlanta. Our VP is Ozzie Johnson who invented ‘Big Daddy’. Our meetings are open to the public. To attend the tour you have to be a member. I hope you have a chance to join us, I think you would enjoy being around other hydrangea addicts😉. Eva Kinney, AHS President

Hi Eva! I went to the hydrangea tour many years ago, 12-15 years ago?! I would LOVE to attend this year. I remember going to a beautiful home on the tour where there was a sea of blue hydrangeas and I just fell in love. ‘Big Daddy’ is one of my favorites, such a beautiful hydrangea. I’ll sign up as a member, can I bring family that aren’t members? Can’t wait!

Wonderful! I think you I’ll enjoy the tour. AHS has single and household memberships. Single membership receives 1 ticket and household 2 tickets. There is a lot more detail information on the AHS website. I look forward to meeting you!

I find you need a really thick layer of mulch to kill off stubborn weeds. I did that in my garden with free wood chips from chip drop. I did another layer this year and in the future, I will probably just top off the wood chips each season with a more attractive kind of mulch. But that initial thick layer of the wood chips has really helped and it really has improved the soil as it has broken down. Let us know how the Captain Jack's works out for you. I used the Bonide organic weed killer called Burnout in the past and it works ok, but it needs sun to kill the weeds.

Yes, mulch is a must! We also run into a problem with our trees dropping acorns every year, we’re mainly pulling up baby trees , along with the invasive vines. 😰

Zone 8 here. I noticed you plant hydrangeas in the shade do you feel they do okay in the shade? I have two huge oak trees in front of my house and would like to plant hydrangeas along the edge of our house but not sure if it’ll be too shady under those oaks. Mind sharing your thoughts?

Your Pomponella is a dream! Is this a single plant or do you have several next to each other? I also planted three pompnellas together and they have this romantic character, just delightful. Unfortunately, mine never get as high as yours, probably due to the frost in the cold season. ❤️

I'd leave the branch on your Japanese Maple if it isn't causing any issues. If you remove it, I'd remove the one on the other side so the tree is symmetrical.
@summermoongarden2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input. I like the branch on the other side so I think I’ll leave it alone!
