In this video, I attempt to repair and ADP-400ER sent to me by Joey of "Joey Does Tech". The supply is not totally dead but is failing under load. Can we make it better?

Nice repair. A typical troubleshooting step for all PFCs is to look for approx 400V on the boost capacitor. Okay, you've replaced the IC on *instinct*, and it helped. But it would be nice to see the failure mode of the DAP053T explained, since the IC was partially working.

Love it!! We should talk soon! Just finished fixing a PS5 with liquid damage. mainboard luckily was not touched. The ADP-400FR...it saw the brunt of the damage. Shorted components: R9, Q3, Q4. The console came back to life, but after going through its system check and telling you "it wasn't powered down correctly" after you clicked past that menu the system would die and shut down. No other shorts I could find. Input and Output of the power supply were fine. All diode readings of DAP051 were in range. so with a shot in the dark, I just replaced DAP and now we have a fully working console again! 😎😎 Thanks for all the content you put out. With this channel, you have truly been a blessing to so many others' lives. Keep doing you!!✌

Thanks! It's good to be back. I'm sure I will see many more PS5 slims but for now I think I have only worked on three and none were power supply issues. I do have a banned PS5 slim that I have removed the power supply so that I can study it.

150 videos and I'm still learning. Well, thanks to you; I can now face the consoles with more confidence and security and even be successful with many of them. Excellent repair. Thank you very much for sharing. All the best.

I have never seen any video before that takes an SMPS for PS5 to its limit values, that is (under full load conditions). In the factory (Delta), where they assemble them, they must have specialized equipment to test these limit conditions, just as you did today. I loved seeing his new place and I noticed the furniture but especially his work table with that new mat where he put the SMPS. Excellent repair. Congratulations. Thank you very much for sharing sir. All the best. PS: Of course I learned something new (with you that always happens) so please continue uploading content and I am certainly happy for your return.

Very nice video, and good info, i have a suggestion, what if you show us more in like checking vcc for the ic, and output, also the oscillation frequency, that way you can 100% sure if it is the ic or not, also you could measure the esr of the caps, alot actually. Thank you very much for the nice video👍

Nice work ! The key here is the equipment being used to push the supply. Really emjoy watching your diagnoses method
@ianhaylock7409Ай бұрын
He could have fixed it without the active load as he knew the PFC caps should hold ~400v, which they didn't do with, or without a load on the PSU. Knowledge is king for these kinds of faults.

Great video! Earlier today I had a lightning storm and one hit in front of my house. Now my PS5 won’t turn on, no sound, no nothing. I tried everything from, unplugging everting for 30mins, using a different outlet, resetting, using a different power cord but no luck. After seeing this video and reading comments from some forums, I’m almost sure it’s the power supply. Question: Do you have a site or a way to contact you? Do you do this kind of work for anyone?

Thank you for sharing. Wondering what causes the IC to fail? Is there possibly another component borderline failing that caused the chip to fail? I guess we will know if same Power supply fails after being in service for a while. Not saying there was any way for you to tell that, just wondering tho about actual cause which adds to the fun of fixing stuff.

Do you offer this service externally? I got 3 PS4 Slim's that are No Power's and have working power supplies...

3:22 31A wow, did not know that. I'd like to ask, for a project I'm currently doing, what's wattage of the AC side when you do the load test of 10A and below, (efficiency wise). I'm thinking of hooking a ps4 power supply with a picopsu.

Hello, I would like to ask a question about ps5 repair. Even if I remove IC DA9081 from the PCB and remove the capacitor around it, IC 13-pin and 27-pin ground shorts occur. Request for help.

Hi Teltecmerc, i hope you’ve been well. Thanks for sharing this. I am currently working on a power supply 400-ER and i think i need to replace that fusible resistor along with the 2 Mosfets because they are shorted. Do you know the value of that resistor and its power rating? Thanks a lot in advance!
@ToltecMercАй бұрын
Hello! I replace that resistor with a 0.1 ohm, 2 Watt resistor.
@marinaq5103Ай бұрын
@@ToltecMerc oh, thanks very much i will try that.
@marinaq5103Ай бұрын
@@ToltecMerc Hi Toltec, hope you’re doing well. I did go ahead and ordered replacement mosfets and that resistor too and installed those. I plugged the supply again and it showed 12 volts briefly but died again and now produces nothing. I checked those components i replaced but they seem fine so i checked around the board and i noticed the diode D1 that connects to the positive side of the filter caps had shorted but not sure what caused it. No other shorts on the board and the DAP053T reads just fine. I was hoping you might have an idea what could be wrong 😆.

Hey I’ve watched a few of your videos trying to figure out what is wrong with my ps5 but I just can’t seem too. The problem is I plug it up it will beep but the light won’t come on or anything and there is no power I try pressing the power button and it will not even beep. If you have any idea what the issue is and would like to help it would be greatly appreciated please and thank you have a great day…..

I have an original PS5 that is popping the Mains fuse in the Mains wall Plug (13 Amp) when under load. Is this likely to be a Motherboard or PSU fault? The Console will power on and run perfectly for anywhere from several hours to several days then sunddenly out of nowhere the Mains fuse will pop. I've been quoted £150 for a Motherboard repair or PSU Replacement which I don't think is worth it. I'm debating weather to just get a refurbished PSU and fix it myself or upgrade to a new PS5 Slim with a new Warranty. My current PS5 is 18 Months Old. Any advice appreciated Thanks
@ToltecMercАй бұрын
I would guess that this a power supply problem.
@benjaminsisko4519Ай бұрын
@@ToltecMerc That's what I figured, even if the console was drawing a lot of power, its the PSU that would be overloading the mains fuse. Tho you would think the internal 8 Amp? fuse would pop before the fuse in the mains plug....
