In the summer of 1535, Henry VIII took summer progress with his second wife Anne Boleyn.
Leaving London only a day after his former friend and Lord Chancellor, Sir Thomas More was executed by beheading on Tower Hill ostensibly for refusing to accept Henry VIII as head of the Church in England.
In conversation, Philippa seeks to understand more about the Progress itself, the context in which it took place, the state of Anne and Henry's relationship at this point in time and the speed at which events took a turn for the worse for Anne.
British History Tours in association with The Tudor Travel Guide will be recreating part of the 1535 Progress in September 2021.

As an American fan of British history, I really love these discussions. I only wish I could spend an extended period of time in Britain, visiting all these sites. Every time I've been there, it was always a "hurry and see as much as you can" visit. Thanks for all this information!

patrick rose it is a fascinating talk with Sarah. It will go live to coincide with the day Henry and Anne were married. 😀

@@BritishHistory l lived in a place called East Molesey growing up, actually opposite Hampton Court palace. I have seen it in all it's moods and been lucky enough to visit it out of hours. It take on a different feeling when it is quite. You can feel it's history. Keep up the good work.
