Thank you for posting this excellent video. Just got done doing my 2005 F150. Took me 5 hours which I thought was pretty darn good for an old farmer from Iowa who does his own vehicle maintenance. First of all thanks for the video it is very well done. I had to remove my PCM and battery to get to the nut in the engine bay. Even after loosening all of the bolts the heater core was still difficult to remove. If your old heater core was rusted, recommend flushing your coolant system before refilling.

I've been a mechanic for over 40yrs, this is an excellent video, most videos you have to watch them take out every damn bolt, this was concise and to the point. I would add the the heater box mounting nut by the AC dryer is double nutted, you're better off if you pull the battery and pcm and get them out of the way, the ac dryer has to come off to get to the second nut

My guy... SHEWWW.... I COULDN'T HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT YOUR VIDEO. Just got done a few hours ago and it took me about 5 hours of active work, sat/sun minus waiting on friends to help you remove the dash and put it back in place. Everything is working great, no leaks and 140° f temps from the vent. Thank you so much for putting out this very good and very short to the point video. I only had one nut and one bolt left over lol 🤷‍♂️🙄👉 sending it. It was way more difficult because of not having an AC machine and being able to disconnect the AC lines, But eventually I got it done. Thank you again. Best video for 2004 to 2008 F-150 heater core replacement. Subscribed an rung the bell 🥂

I'd like to add a note for others in the future. When you are reinstalling the steering column, don't worry about getting the steering shaft into the steering column before you bolt it up. There is enough slack in the steering shaft that you can get it onto the steering column and install the bolt even though you've already mounted the steering column. Hope this helps, if anybody in the future needs further help, just comment right here.

Excellent video!! Thank you for taking the time to make this. It helped so much for my 1st go at my core in 08 f150. Only problem i had was mine has heater vents going to back seat so some extra wrist breaking action was required to detach the lower connecting vent box so i could pry the main box back. But this video took all the guess work out and I was able to have the dash out in about an hour by myself.. that thing is freaking heavy btw :þ lol. Thanks again for an awesome walk through.

Hey thanks for the video! Supper helpful! The only thing that tricked me up was the darn double nut situation on the AC dryer. I ended up just drilling the plastic out so a socket would fit then added a washer on the outside to put it back together. I guess you could get an open end back there if you’re more skilled with those things then me. Taking the battery and battery box out helps. I like your comment “we had a little revaluation” haha! The floor vent can make it tricky too but with enough wrestling it’ll come out.

Thanks for taking the time to create this. Today I will attempt this job for my first time. I have a couple of critiques just to share what could have made this video better for me personally. I don’t mean this negatively at all, just thought you might benefit for future videos/more views if that is the direction you are going. 1. Add a list of tools, sizes needed in the description. 2. Show how the clips and such unclip. Ex. Those hose connectors you push in and squeeze. Right now I have never encountered that so I’m not sure what to expect. I also don’t know how to remove the locks from the core and install on the new core. I don’t want to break them. Overall, thanks for your helpful vid and good luck in the future.

If you did not get the wheel dead center, it will snap the clock spring, fuel gauge should work off the obd2 port along with the tach and other gauges, if its the only one not working it’s probably the sending unit in the tank

I agree. I've got an estimate of $800 from a local mechanic. I'll gladly spend that to avoid taking this on. My main concern wouldn't be taking everything apart... it would be putting it back together. I would wind up with 5 extra bolts and a permanently rattling and squeaking dash and half my gauges wouldn't work, lol. But it was a great video. I love your style... you don't waste time on nonsense. It is right to the point on the important stuff. BRAVO

How important is that gasket if it breaks trying to get out the heater core as you did? Will it affect outside elements from sealing off effectively? I need to replace my heater core in my 05 f150. Thank you for the info.

Thanks again for the tutorial! Man it really helped!! Thanks a bunch!! Although mine gave me a little more fight as far as pulling the old heater core out but a little bending hose connections and out it came. Smaller fight getting the new one in and when I was trying to give a good push my shoulder was also pressing hard against the window and managed to put a nice crack in it lol! And the inner dash bolts for removing and installing I had to use a magnet and my phone camera.

@@Boostismyfriend okay sweet thanks. I thought I had busted something on the AC because I smelled a strong sweet odor, but I reckon now that it was just the puddle of coolant from the busted heater core. Thanks man, your walkthrough and support has been awesome!!!

You don't need to remove the steering column just disconnect he one bolt on the shaft and the whole dash will slide out after you take the bolts our and disconnect the wires at the side of the dash.
