7 STEPS to JDBC 1. import the package 2. load & register the driver 3. establish the connection 4. create the statement 5. execute the query 6. process result 7. close

Thanks very informative! just an update to this video: At the time of this comment, Class.forName(..) is no longer required. Java will detect your driver automatically. Therefore, Class.forName(..) can be omitted.

13:53 Connection is an interface and interfaces are never made to represent objects , you are keeping the reference recieved from DriverManager class in connection type variable .

It is polymorphism. We can't create an instance of interface but we create an object of that and execute the methods which are implemented by the class which are inheriting that interface.
