Quick fact about Anne Frank: she rewrote some passages after hearing that there would be a collection for wartime diaries, and she did always want to be famous. Unfortunately, it was after she died that she became famous.

Nancy Drew is a big one! I learned how to read at about 3, but it wasn't until I was 4 that I read REAL books -- starting with Nancy Drew. It made me really love reading, and it was reading that, Boxcar Children, and Happy Hollisters that shaped me into the booklover that I am today. I also loved Magic Treehouse, Mysterious Benedict Society, American Girl, and Dear America when I was little. I would read and reread all of them, borrowing over 20 books from the library at a time. I had a lot more time then...

I read The Catcher in the Rye for my AP English class junior year and LOVED IT! As I kid I read the Dolphins at Dusk book and the Magic Tree House was life and I remember reading this book about cats (I can't remember the name but I can clearly picture the cover which was burgundy and the cat was a reddish blonde color). I also remember reading a book about a dog who gets separated from his mom and sibling and goes through all these owners and finding his way back home. I'm about to turn 19 and I still remember these books from elementary school

I love those videos where people talk about their "important" books. It's crazy how some books influence us as a person. Being also a Canadian (french speaking one... but still a canadian!), I grew up with Anne and Gilbert (books and movies) and Shakespeare has been a huge part of my life. I didn't even know that it was a classic and an "old" thing when I was a kid. 1984 spoke to me a lot when I was a teenager ( a long time ago!) and "Le petit prince" by St-Exupery (Ant-one de Saint eggs-U-perry, the U being that vowell that does not exist in english... you're doing it quite good!) is also an all time favorite. Love that story!

I agree with Shakespeare, The Fault In Our Stars, The Book Thief and the Harry Potter Books. I'd also say PS I Love You by Cecelia Ahern as it was the first adult fiction book I read. I think To Kill A Mockingbird is a must read. I didn't appreciate it at the time when I'd to read it for school. But as I've gotten older, I realise how important of a book it is for people to read :) I only saw the Little Princess for the first time as a young teenager and I bought the book soon after. I was OBSESSED reading the Magic Tree House books. They were my go to books to read as a kid. Anne of Green Gables changed my life because it was something my sisters and I shared. We would always watch the movies together. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton was a book that changed my life. I was in the 8th grade and read it for English. I fell in love with the characters and one of the few books that I read when I am in a reading slump. I also watched A Little Princess and Secret Garden as a kid and loved the books as well.

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom and John Sherrill(sp?) was a really good book. The book demonstrated both the cruelty people can deliver onto others; but also demonstrated to what lengths some people will do to help those who are being mistreated. The book broke my heart into a million pieces and then sewed it back together again. I used to read The Little Princess when I was little. I need to read it again. The Little Prince was also a favorite of mine. I had to read Catcher in the Rye for school, and I hated it, though I'm going to give it a re-read. I loved A Fault in Our Stars. I really loved the friendship between the two main characters and even the eccentric author they meet later in the book. I enjoyed the video, especially being able to learn about more books.

We have Harry Potter in common! :) It's a book series that changed everything, it trully shaped me as I am today. There's also Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (I never felt soo connected to a book character before), Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone (it was there for me when I was at my worst with anxiety) and finally, Sense and Sensibility by jane Austen (the classic that showed me how reading classics could be an amazing experience, I never felt soo many emotions with characters in a classic before)

The Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce was my life changing book series (I have probably reread that series at least 7 times). It really taught having strength and following your dreams & desires even if it's not the norm. Anne of Green Gables was great too and it was the first chapter book I read before bed with my mom rather than having her read to me. Jennifer Robson's novels got me into historical fiction that wasn't about royalty so that changed my reading life. And Harry Potter for teaching me the love of fantasy. And showing the strength of friendship.
