Excellent video! I buy all of these healthy items and I’m on a strict budget. I would also recommend fresh ginger (cheap) to grate and make a tea in the morning. Ginger is a powerhouse of immunity boosting phytochemicals and is wonderful paired with local raw, unfiltered honey as a tonic!

Kiwis are usually packed as a snack in my lunch, and I’m usually eating them on the go so I will eat them whole in just a couple bites. I relate the taste of a kiwi skin to that of an apple skin. There really is no taste since the fruit is sweet and it’s easy to eat. I think it’s the texture that freaks some people out a bit, but if you can get over that, you’ll have a tasty zero-maintenance snack.

I do eat the outside of the Kiwi. I wash them, slice the ends off and then slice the kiwi in small slices. The slices help, as it makes the slice seem more of the actual fruit and less of the skin.

Where I am in Canada, all these prices are mostly ATLEAST 2x to 3x the price. Some are 5 ti es the price. Organic carrots here are about 5.65 after tax for the same bag you got. And bananas are around 5 after tax as well. Organic here is REALLY expensive because most of our food is shipped from other countries and so it don't last long. Organic bananas and carrots here might last 5 days. Lol

If you cut the kiwi in thin, round slices, it's easy to eat the peeling. Your brain "allows" you to "ease in" the process. Once you get used to eating the peeling that way, you can go to bigger chunks and before you know it, you don't notice the difference. You're right, the skin is good for us. I like the way you teach and add in the images of the food. It really helps connects the content to the material you're sharing.

I can eat the skin of golden kiwis easily. It’s no more objectionable than that of a peach. They also taste better than the green ones in my opinion. Sweeter and less acidic with more vit C. They are harder to find outside of their season, which is summer through late fall, I believe.

i would substitute spinach with kale for lower oxalate, avocados instead of banana for lower sugar content & still high in potassium, lemon instead of orange for lower sugar content & still high in vitamin C & would only eat brown rice once a week due to their arsenic level.

I agree with most of these things. Eating whole foods is definitely cheaper than convenience/snack foods. Where I am, Greek yogurt and chicken breasts are very expensive. I'm not sure what the hype is about Greek yogurt anyway though. Regular plain yogurt is also healthy. I tried making it with my Instant Pot for the first time this week and it was VERY easy! All you need is milk and a couple of table spoons of plain yogurt for a "starter."

Put a cup of (rinsed) steel cut oats along with 2 1/2 cups of water in your instant pot... Cook on high for 12 minutes - quick release - turn the keep warm function off - stir and allow it to thicken - it changed my life. I love steel cut oats, but hated watching the stovetop forever... I cook them and meal prep with mason jars or freeze individual servings... I just add a splash of water to reheat and they taste as if I just cooked them. I never bulk prep rolled oats because they don't reheat as well; I have to eat those freshly cooked. I just found your channel today and I love it - I'm going to make your chicken and brown rice tacos today - LOL!

I do eat the outer skin of the kiwi, mainly because that’s how my Mom always gave it to me when I was little. The skin is a little sour, but I like thinking when I consume that kind of texture of fiber that it helps to scrub my intestines and sweep out any funky residue! (I could be wrong but that’s what I imagine when I eat them! :)

Hi Lacey, I happened to stumble upon your videos and I'm glad I did. It's been a wealth of information. I do have a question I'm hoping you can answer. I know full fat yogurt is your go to but is fat free greek yogurt bad. Has it been modified in any other way than the fat removed? Thanks so much!

Definitely not true. Why do you think people in the us are so overweight? Healthy food is more expensive. People who live in poverty are either skinny because they can't afford to buy enough food or overweight because they can't afford healthy foods.
