The important thing is that you like it. I'm one of the guys who doesn't love the blue background because I think it looks too much like a pool wall, but we'll see how it looks when it will have algae on it.

Blue background is perfect for this tank. Fish always show better with blue, that why fish stores and aquariums use it. Black hides algee better. I would add pebbles to the areas where the sand has been washed away. It will help it look more natural.

When you were talking about doing new things building this tank you were abundantly confident that it would work and wouldn't leak... You've never talked about anyone teaching you how to do this so I'm guessing you figured it all out on your own. Did you ever have a tank building disaster? Leaks? Blowouts? (Well done btw, it's beautiful!)

Along with the Congo tetras, you must add Rose line barbs at least 20 they will sure complement this tank setup alot.

Anubias suction cupped to the back looks great great too. You could use the super glue or small zip ties with the clear suction cups that have the holes in them. I would get a kick out of it if you give that a try. It looks great put on the back of larger tanks. Think about Joey.😁

It's your aquarium so you do you, do Congo tetras if you want, love them as a fish but continent mixing grinds on me, personally if they are available i'd go with Empire tetras (Nematobrycon palmeri) there some varieties like Wild, Blue, Purple, Black. Maybe get some Butterfly rams (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) to hang out amongst the wood and rocks cracks, maybe some Twig whiptail catfish (Farlowella acus).

Congo tetras are beautiful, I’d pair them with a smaller tetra as well, possibly some scissor tails or rummy nose, if the geophagus won’t eat them lol… also love the idea of using bio blocks to secure the Java ferns, they should thrive in there with a good base to grow on and co2 to feed them

The tank looks great! I have a suggestion for a schooling fish; the Rummy Nose Tetra (Hemigrammus rhodostomus)! In my experience, the best schooling freshwater fish for their size. Maybe get 300 of those and add a somewhat bigger tetra with it? I think that would be awesome! 😄

The background is fine I think. It would look good with big leaf or large round leaf type anubias. I like the pop of the background. Black background is good but sometimes it doesn't pop the same. Please don't get to hasty with changing it. You just got it set up. Enjoy it for a while. Been watching you for years and bought your book ages ago. Even came to your defense and had words with a pudgy you tuber once 😂

I guessed congo tetras, but Buenos Aires Tetras in a lagre school are cool and breed like madd!!! Currently interested in pristella tetras, and maybe some golden neon tetras. They're a recent color morph of the classic and really make the tank pop!!! I work at Petco and actually have some half decent access to breeds through work and hobbyist clubs!!!

Hey Joey! It looks amazing. One other thing I was thinking is getting the valesnaria near the output so it shimers and flows with the water. I feel like it'll compliment the angels and look striking against the algae--blue wall. Could possibly try soil bags and rocks with a sand cap so the geophagus cant uproot them? Looks great otherwise! Its great to see such a long tank!

I wasn't so sure about the blue, but when you mentioned how the angels would've looked washed out, I remembered back when I had my angelfish. At first I had them with a blue background in my 55 gal cause I wanted a change up. Eventually I didn't like how it stood out so I changed it to black to match with my other tanks. But I distinctly remember the anglefish loosing their bright colors and patterns. It didn't bother me cause I had grown attached to their personalities, but they did look way better with a blue background.

Love that you have a school of Oscars in the big tank. Oscars are great. I have two, one beautiful Tiger and a wild type. I'd recommend looking into some of the wild types if you expand your stock.

I love your Congo tetra idea. I also use alongside my Congos for bigger swimming fish the rose line barbs. I think those combined with Congos with 15 feet to swim back-and-forth across would be absolutely amazing!🦯🐠 19:19

I'd be worried about fin nipping with tetra. a big school of dwarf neon rainbows would go well. but it depends if your sticking to a theme of fish location. although I'm not sure if Congo tetra are fin nippers. but they are nice

Amazing tank. I would get a lot Amazon sword or other broad leave plants in one of the ends. Angels use these to lay egg. My opinion about Mantis Not in that tank. A fantastic tank.

Congo tetra would be great I’d say! Additionally, since we’re going for a stunning community tank rather than a biotope, a bunch of torpedo barbs would be incredible in there. Love the geos btw

I really don’t think the Altums will wash out, the contrast makes them pop. My buddy has them in a 220 with a back ground and they look incredible in there.
