I'm pretty sure the bespoke encounter is started by popping a Anomaly Detector in your ship and getting a chance encounter. You'll know when it happens because it will show the Intercepter image instead of the Space Encounter or Living Frigate images.

I would reallyyyyy love a comprehensive NMS lore videos from this channel. They got me interested in NMS lore but there's barely any videos outside of this channel talking about it. A full history of NMS lore, from the creation of the ATLAS on Earth to now, would be absolutely amazing, though I know its a huge undertaking

at roughly 7:00 it was great to see acknowledgement of the way i got my first sentinel interceptor. i was literally vibing pulsing through space towards a dissonant planet, then i get an encounter which i thought was a trade ship but no, it gave me coords to the interceptor. this was my first time in a dissonant system i was very confused how i got one so easily.

About number 5. I swear I saw a post of someone getting an encounter is space with some interceptor that led them to a crash site. That must be this story encounter

#5 the encounter is referring the a new pulse drive event that marks an interceptor after you talk to an interceptor in space.

The change to the error messages is absolutely not just a small change. You can find examples of the original still at scrap dealers suggesting these new error messages aren't just a texture change but actually an entirely different warning sign.

Hi kanaju!, I think that you are one of the best nms youtubers out there and when I’m watching your vids I never look at the side bar XD, I was wondering if you would do any how to build … videos, just a step by step tutorial on how to be build this pretty base, or that pretty base. There is a lack of this right now in the nms content creators and I think you would keep them interesting and fun

Illuminating video, thanks. Also of note: I can't be absolutely certain, but it appears gravatino balls glow differently. Before Interceptor, they were solid white. Now they sport a pulsing blue and white gradient with a vibrating bluish electron halo. Also, when pulsing to a location in 3rd person for more than 10 seconds or so, the game camera used to remain directly astern. Now it rolls off axis to show 3/4 views of the ship. I started playing NMS during Fractal/Waypoint and don't recall these behaviors then.

For the new update, I started a new save. I like the settlement part of the game and think it was a great addition, so I set out to do that. As it turns out, the settlement I came across ended up on one of the corrupted planets with the gravity storms. I don't know whether to feel angry or lucky. I'll feel both.

As far getting sentinel ship and multi-tool through conversations. I just started the game on Xbox Series X and Nada gave me an echo locator as part of the Artimis quest. From there you can find a harmonic camp. Note this is part of the early game as i played on PS4 since the visions update but didn't do any of the story missions. but upon returning to the game i was doing the early artimis quest and Nada gave me an echo locator at the same point in the artimis quest. So hope this answers the "getting a sentinel ship through conversation" question.

The gravity storm is a funny one, I know it was added since Origins but it was so rare that I've seen almost everyone talking about them being a new feature from this update. The multitool magazine is almost certainly unfinished. One of the sentinel multitools has the magazine attach itself back after you reload. I've never been a fan of multitool viewmodels or animations but that one looks especially bad. s for the Hijacked laser.. I thought it was just a 'reskinned' regular laser heh.

I just have to say that you really improved quality of your videos

I haven't seen any mention of it yet, but you can actually install the regular mining laser along with the hijacked laser in the sentinel multitools. And it seems it keeps them from gaining any heat at all. Pretty much, anyway.

I can confirm you can get a hyaline brain at random from a corrupted world but it’s not limited to the wheel barrels, I got mine from a temple I believe, but I’m not too sure anymore, I got it at my first corrupted world before I even knew how to find a sentinel ship. I never realized you can make them ping for a ship until I found my first abandoned camp and found my first ship

I have been thoroughly enjoying the sentinel ship hovering thing. I think it's so cool that we can finally do that; I've wanted to do it for so long. Makes it easier to show off my big base from above XD

The sentinel multitools can have both the hijacked laser and the regular mining laser both installed at the same time. Makes one heck of a mining tool.

4th way is by pulsing in the disonent system, and you will get sentinal ship stop you and contact you, after talking with them it will give you coords of crashed sentinel ship, i saw vid on yt week or two ago 😅

The sentinel multi-tools not only eject the clip, they have a reload animation on both of them

The first Dreadnaught AI fragment I obtained not only located a ship but also set up a mission that took me through the process of claiming the ship and locating a harmonious camp. This almost certainly counts as the bespoke story.

A void huh? A void is like an Abyss. The Abyss. The Sentinels. Maybe that broken terminal thing IS maybe a part of a giant sentinel. And the "Void" text is just a watermark. I don't know what could be happening here, but it's definitely interesting. You've earned yourself a sub, never really seen a guy who dives this deep into the lore of a game.

Great video and great eye for detail. I don't want to know how much time you spend on NMS figuring this stuff out. But it's vids like this that make me take a second look at the game to see what I might be missing.

7:56 It's a random space encounter where a Distressed Interceptor will attempt to communicate with you, then fly off. It happened to my friend and I near the beginning of our save. We were led to a Dissonant system afterwards.

As for the Bespoke Story Encounter bit, I can report that I think I got it. I randomly encountered a sentinel ship that was in distress, and was given a few options on how to proceed. I offered assistance, it blipped away but left a signature that I was able to follow to its eventual crash site.

So, about the bespoke encounter- I actually had one of these pop up few days after the update. I was pulsing in a dissonant system, minding my own business, & I got a radio frequency alert, much like a trader ship, or other deep space anomalies. I stopped to answer & it was an Interceptor ship, claiming it was offline & entering emergency mode. After some story convo which I'd rather not paste here so I don't spoil it for anyone, it said 'new course plotted'. After that, it gave me the option to attack, or offer assistance. When I offered assistance, it flew off & then gave me coordinates to a crashed interceptor :) I have some of the screenshots of the encounter on my twitter, but I can't post it here since this message would be deleted. GL coming across them travellers! :D

I just got the bespoke encounter a couple hours ago. It's a distress signal that has a chance to appear when entering a new system (I think), that leads to a crashed sentinel ship.

I had a bespoke encounter. I was pulsing through space when I got a random encounter message. I dropped our of pulse and encountered a sentinel ship that was having a malfunction. It asked for assistance, and I offered it, but then it just warped away, and I got a new mission to find it in another system. The system it indicated scanned as dissonant but when I got there none of the individual planets scanned as having corrupted sentinels. I followed the marker down to the surface and found a crashed interceptor. Curiously, the planet had both kinds of purple shards but the sentinels there weren't corrupted, just the normal drones.

Dude... That interdimensional multitool bug needs to be a feature! That's cool AF!

Getting the same locator from destroying the sentinel freighter from frigate missions would be the bespoke story missions (I think...)

5:55 I never seen alien chickens before in NMS. I came across the story encounter prompt for the new Interceptor. Basically, a malfunctioning Interceptor hails you and then disappears, leaving a trace signal. If you follow the signal you find a dissonance planet and the crashed ship that hailed you. You then fix it up by following the on-screen prompts to locate the items you need to repair it. But for me the planet I was on had so few dissonance resonators that I was following the Target Sweep directions for like 20 minutes. I was so long I came across another crashed Interceptor that was an 'S' class ship, so I claimed that one instead.

When i was flying in a system with a dessonant planet, a broken Sentinal Ship came to me (like when a ship wants to trade with you). I accepted it and got a side quest, it lead me to the process of getting one of the new ships.

Putting a basic Lazer on setinal tools actually combines them and provides even more of a boost.

I didn’t know about a few of these, well done. And I haven’t seen anything to do with a “bespoke story encounter.”

I think the bespoke story encounter happened to me. As I was going to one of the new camps, I had a random encounter where an interceptor went into my comms, said some random stuff I can’t remember, then it said the interceptor had crashed and gave me its location

5. bespoke encounter. 5 minutes after installing the update and pulsing through space a damaged intercepter popped up as random encounter and asked me to visit certain coords to help him out. It brought me to a dmgd sentinel on a corrupted planet nearby. That's how I got introduced. It never popped up again since.

You certainly have an eye for detail. I'll let you know if I figure out what bespoke story encounter means.

Hey Kanaju, I have a lore question. Do you know anything about royal ships, multitools and backpack? Are they first spawn relics?

The first Interceptor I got was from what I think was the bespoke mission you mentioned. I was flying through space, minding my own business when my communicator lit up. It was an Interceptor pilot in distress. Naturally I followed the beacon and it led me straight to a downed Interceptor. Then usual unlock then occurred.

I encountered my first bespoke mission during a random Pirate Battle... An interceptor approached me out of warp and was trying to communicate but I couldn't understand anything it was saying and it took off into the planet. That's when I got the message to locate the interceptor

so... just a thought here but what if the void lettering change was merely a cosmetic change to an existing clue that no one had figured out until now because of the differing encoding and the fact that those symbols have not appeared in a place that shows their meaning before?

I think I had the "bespoke encounter" happen for me. Shortly after the update I logged on and checked out my "home" system and sure enough I had a dissonant planet. So I went to check it out. As I was pulsing to it I had an encounter. I dropped out of pulse expecting another trader trying to sell me various bits and bobs, but no it was a Sentinel ship looking for help. After a little "conversation" it flew off leaving a marker on the dissonant planet I was heading for. Sure enough when I landed at that marker it was a crashed Sentinel ship that I could salvage. I have had this happen a second time in a different system.

You cab get dreadnought AI fragments from Nexus missions, but its pretty rare.

I thought the gravity storms were a bug lol. I built a new portal base on an awesome paradise planet that has these storms and 95% bioluminescent (glowing) flora and fauna.

I am stoked for all of this! Interceptor has pulled me back into the game & I started a new character so I can explore everything! I really hope we can go to The Void & or The World of Glass soon! I would so love a new Expedition soon!

I think the bespoke is about the sentinel robot friend quest you get on a settlement mission into a corrupted world, I found my new ship that way

Farming Interceptors has become my Money-Making Game Loop... I kinda wish it was a little harder to get those Ships- I've only visited Dissonant Systems for the last 2 Weeks.

The Mag eject was present before the Interceptor update. I had a rifle tha had a mag that ejected it's mag. Now I have a Sentinel LMG that ejects it's box battery and it's so badass

I encountered my first Interceptor just pusling in a normal system. After dropping out of pulse, there was a short encounter like a repairs needed encounter. Then the interceptor warped off. I had to pull up the galaxy map and follow it to the dissonant system where it crashed.

Excellent as always 🎉 It may be my imagination, but I feel like they have made changes to the scenery on many planets. It just feels more realistic to me as I have been hitting about five new planets a day since the start of the update. Also, I have noticed two messages that may have been there before, but I just never saw them - 'They see you' and 'We can free them'. Update: This isn't my imagination - I have gone to other worlds since above and I can say the physical environments have drastically improved - they are much better.

#5 is a random encounter, had it happen to me just randomly flying around space, you get a signal for an object of interest and its a sentinal ship, the same one you will later find crashed

I had a pulse drive encounter with a damaged interceptor in space that led me to another system with a dissonance spike. It was the first sentinel ship I found. I think that might be what they were talking about?

I definitely remember some multitools ejecting magazines in first person as far back as the outlaw update

I actually got an interceptor through a deep space encounter. When I left pulse I found myself tailing an interceptor that refused to attack. It ltook off and the mission lead to a crash site on a dissonant planet.

Fun fact: you can actually get a sentinel ship without mich fighting because you can get a dreadnought ai fragment from nexus missions

I did the mission and appeared to me randomly during pulse and this was my first interceptor

Now I just want Hello Games to add crashed ship logs to the catalogue, and the new destroyed robots to the catalogue as well.

In a sentinel interceptor, the red accents turn purple when you enter a corrupted planet

A way I think they could fix the sentinel ship hover feature moving forward slowly is by switching the whole movement system up when you are moving at 0 speed. Where instead of moving forward, or backward, you move up instead. This could also be applied to ALL ships, but the catch is that it uses your launch fuel and doing it is a bad idea since it will fall out of the sky. Of course sentinel ships would be the ONLY one that can do it infinitely, as well as having a MUCH higher range of maneuverability.

On the subject of bespoke story to lead to a crashed Intercepter. I have one theory. If crashed ship hunting using, sometimes the “Distress Signal” is a ship with a pilot. I’ve had encounters with these pilots, sometimes they give you side quests. One set me off to hunt a pirate for them one time.

surprised you didn't mention this, sometimes when you kill a sentinel-flew interceptor it'll give you a hyaline brain that way too

FWIW, all ships used to hover by default until around 2017 or 2018

#1 - EVERYTHING is a clue! I can't get my interceptor to hover. I still hit the 20u/s lower limit. I've found two C class and one A class in two different saves. They do hover the first time I lift off, but after that, it's just like a normal ship.

I got a story quest thing involving an intercepter while exiting a pulse jump. I haven't finished it but I imagine that's the bespoke story thing maybe? (I'm kinda new to no mans sky)

My girl and I added a regular mining laser next to the hyjacked laser and it increased the amount mined. Dunno if it was a bug.

Kanaju - answer for #5 is Using a anomaly detector while pulse driving in space may provoke an non-combat encounter with an interceptor ship that will give you coordinates to a crashed interceptor similar that travelers in space stations will give you coordinates to graves. I got the chance encounter, a damged interceptor pulled up beside in my 2nd or 3rd system. quest had me follow it to another system, found it crashed repaired it got a cool interceptor (edit added punctuation)

also sentinel laser has multiple color variations! and seem depend on planets biom from where you got it. like interceptor colors that why my sentinel mining laser is blue 😂.

I got the "bespoke" encounter today happenstance. Sentinel ship, damaged and failing sent a comms message. If you offer to help it crashes and you can take it. It was my first interceptor too. Only a C class tho 😭🤣
