Sławomir Mrożek's play House on the Border shows the absurdity of borders and divisions. Suddenly, the border between the countries was drawn through the middle of a certain house - the border goes through the double bed, the hall, through the rooms. With sharp humour, Mrożek exposes the absurdities of our world. Why are we talking about this? Because the border that today's gospel talks about does not divide people into bad and good, but runs through the center of our hearts.
In the gospel, servants come to the householder, reporting that someone has sown weeds in the wheat field. The farmer, however, replies not to remove the weeds, so as not to accidentally damage the wheat as well. He lets them grow together until it's harvest time. This parable of the Lord Jesus is addressed to those who want to create divisions, demanding the punishment of sinners now.
We often feel torn between the good we want and the bad we don't want to do. The border runs through the center of our heart. However, the good Host patiently waits for our development and good decisions. God allows us to live and open ourselves to His mercy. This fight will continue until the end of our lives. In this context, let us recall the story of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, who, as a 14-year-old girl, decided to "snatch sinners from the power of hell." The first of them was the murderer, Henryk Pranzini, whom she begged for conversion at the last moment before his death.
I invite you to consider for consideration for the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Year A
