I brought over a freshy cheap $10 dollar motor to Micheal. He lead me through on what to do to a motor when you first get it. For example my motor came from the factory with no play in it at all.
First he Checks the play and oils the bearings in the motor before really tuning it up.
Also he put the motor on a analizer to get my timing just right. Right at 6 amps
He stated " never trust the timing Marks on the motor" you need to analize the motor to get the true timing.

Yes he is, he knows his stuff. Onroad racing, when it comes to motors and batteries is far ahead of offroad. But he took the time to tune a 17.5 for me. At the time I didn't know it was that far in depth. Thank you soo much for watching means alot.

It may sound crazy but my cheap $25 Trackstar motor has the closest sensor board nunbers! Only 2 degrees between 1,2,and 3... My Fantom isn't even close to that but is a bit stronger though! A motor analyzer is a nice tool to have!

Those numbers mean nothing on an un-loaded motor. A high Kv motor will not show good symmetry without a load.

May I know why aiming for 6amp draw?
@prestigemechanical1145
@prestigemechanical1145 5 жыл бұрын
The bench readings of amperage performed in this video are not accurate, also does not show the peak voltage and amperage or what the sine wave is to understand the load “motor”. The motor is also not under a load and the amp draw will change as the motor takes on heat. Save your money on that motor tester and buy a Fluke 87V and also a Fluke A3002 FC Wireless AC/DC Current Module. The current module is a data logger and can be used with the Fluke Connect application so you get real live data. I don’t advise using the module during a race as it’s extra weight, but for knowing what’s going on with your motor I have yet to see anyone roll like this but I also fix residential and commercial motors and understand a multimeter which I suggest everyone knows how to do when playin around with electronics. Hope this helps ; )

Hi, Some questions to Micheal , i am using a brushless motor checker it can read Current (amps), Volts, RPMs and KVs, no Timming.... 1. What Current do you recommend for a 25.5T for better perfomance (maclan mrr motor) to be use in Formula 1 class? 2. What Current do you recommend for a 21.5T for better perfomance (maclan mrr motor) to be use in touring blinky class? 3. What Current do you recommend for a 17.5T for better perfomance (Team Orion VST2 pro motor) to use in touring blinky class?

with the orion 17.5 i push the timing to about 6-6.5 amps and that is in blinky mode: 21.5 with i have the same motor but the team ed. i have it up to 4.5-5 amps but it is 50 degree on can: now with 25.5 mrr with i have im still working on that sill a work in progress.....

superandresini to answer your question on the 25.5T motor for the f1 car i would leave the timing right were it is cause Y don"t the the drive train as a tc car. F1 car are a direct drive and it a lighter car. I may go up only 5 more degree's at he most, all I would do is just gear the hell out of it but have a fan on the car

@@tiny180 yeah, I ruined my summer in modified after being national champion. The guy I bought the car was champion in modified, he knew his car by heart. 1 year later he told me he would not know the car anymore as he does not drive it. 3 other racers also knew the car or would have had the skills to have a look at my diff. Noone helped me. I ruined all 5 races. Later I found out one shim was put the wrong side in the diff. Then I was thrown back in beginners category, I stopped racing, began with painting, became alcoholic and a rc car collector :-) Ps: perhaps I put it in the wrong order: alcoholic and then I became an abstract painter

you're setting these motors up for a high amp draw .. large tracks .... on medium and smaller tracks, a lower amp draw is better because the torque is way better ...... timing on these are like the camshaft in a gas motor .. bigger cam more power, but a narrow power band at a higher rpm ... less is a wider more usable torque band.

@michaelfrench9597
@michaelfrench9597 6 жыл бұрын
with a 7.5T I would leave it right where it is, (alot of motor), for the 10.5T no more then 40 degree's just keep checking the temps after each run no more then 170 degree's on that motor
