’17 Blues/Fusion Licks’
In this lesson, we will learn a 24 bar solo over a funk blues in C. To some extent, this solo follows traditional blues phrasing concepts, such as call and response, use of space and repetition. However, it also incorporates some fusion-inspired ideas, such as bebop-style chromatic enclosures, diminished half-whole licks and a fast legato phrasing.

Bobby, great lesson. I've been binging on playing on the Gstr. b3rd (8 fret) up the 3rd (9 fret) then on the Dstr 1st (10 fret) down to b7th (8 fret). Such a cool way to wrap up lick 1. We all have favorite learning method. Mine is to buy your $6 download and study it. I so appreciate the GuitarPro files as they very helpful teaching aids. 6 bucks for all those files is a pittance. Now I'm here to learn at the feet of the master. And I can follow your dialog in real time. This is no beginners lesson. In fact, I'll rate it at advanced intermediate. The problem remains that understanding the lessons does not mean I know how to play the 17 licks and the rhythm. When my fingers know the lessons, that is when I'll have mastered your 17 Blues/Fusion Licks. It is going to take hard work, lots of practice, and frustration when I want smash my guitar and find an instrument that is easy to learn. Anyone who thinks learning to play the guitar well is easy, best think again. I'll be visiting pretty regularly for the next month or 2.

Bobby, Lick 16 is a no can do at full speed ahead. I can do 25% with the GuitarPro. I'm confident I'll eventually get to 50% but I cannot see faster than that. I'm 71 years old and have been playing for 3 years now. I want to upload something that I love playing and so I intend to play a piece based on this lesson. I got trapped in the pentatonic cage. This lesson freed me. I wanted to know how to create melodic solos using more than one scale. This is it. I going to create my own backing track at about 75% your tempo. My solo will be based on yours with a little me put in. Some of the intervals are so cool I find myself adding my personal touches. While it would be nice to get a few viewers, it is really immaterial to me. I just want to put up on KZfaq a piece I love playing. Bobby, my man, anyone with a Yellow Lab is good people. My wife and I had more dogs and cats than I can remember. But I'll never forget Loverboy, my Lab's name. Out of here.

Learning this now and I highly recommend playback speed of 0.75 in settings and it sounds not only very groovy but easier to hear the timing. And the music from buy me a coffee is really worth it. Cheap, for all Bobby's work.

Bobby, this is the best lesson I've ever got my paws on. You are taking me into territory I never explored before. I never expected to be playing over the C7, the C diminished half / whole tone scale then seamlessly going into Cm7 pentatonic over the F7. And it sounds as bad as bad gets. And I'm playing it; its rough, needs lots of practice but going to get it, stuff that I thought was way over my pay grade. I am not bragging about myself. I am bragging about what an exceptionally good teacher you are. 😁

Tried not to buy this one (I'm a firm believer of if you chase two rabbits you'll catch neither) but it's a cracking solo and covers so much of what we've been doing in lessons recently. Will have to find time to try and pick some of this stuff up. I think you should do some EVH style "Suddenly" (Angry Anderson) solo piece for a Christmas special

Thanks mate. I means a lot coming from a monster player like your good self! I'm using the Quad Cortex. It's the Plexi model with a Tube Screamer capture in front of the amp.
