After reading so many of the comments and your very patient replies i can only imagine how frustrating it is to not only mention things multiple times in every video AND in the description, but then to also have to answer such repetitive and already-answered questions! I would get so mad and not reply hahaha but that's why you have a successful customer based business and I don't 😂😂 great videos too!👍🏼

Out of curiosity, when were taffy pullers invented? I'm assuming they weren't around in the Victorian era if you're using a candy hook.
@LoftyPursuits
@LoftyPursuits 8 жыл бұрын
+Larry Bundy Jr Taffy pullers were not invented, they were born. I have a staff of them. You'd have a hook, or failing that two people pulling taffy from each other making taffy with hands that had been buttered for better roasting against the hot candy. Cutting on the other hand was done with the Knife, scissors or a Kiss Knocker or measured guillotine cutter (That looks a lot like a giant cigar cutter) We have these two tools in our shop, but we don't use them.

I can imagine that whoever, and whenever someone designed the very first in-lolly image, that they were the talk of the town. It's 2016 and amongst all our technology I look at these PDC vids and am amazed. Just imagine back in the day (when ever that was) what people thought of it! Out of interest do they make handmade fudge at this lolly store?

I love these videos, but the GIANT pd.net logo in the corner kinda gets in the way in this one. Could you please make it smaller in the future, or place it a bit more carefully, or just put it there for only part of the video? It's a bit distracting
@LoftyPursuits
@LoftyPursuits 8 жыл бұрын
+prissylou1217 I agree, it was a test. I only put the web site in the first 5 and last 5 seconds of most of the videos. But in those videos I have gotten dozens of posts asking where to buy the candy. I have the "i" link in the corner, text and speech at the end of the video, and the website at the start and end. Still I get tons of questions about where these candies are available. This was sort of a test to see if this solved the issue. I do agree, I think I over did it. Look at our other videos and see how I've done it in the past, and read the comments. I never thought I had to be as obvious as I clearly have to be. :)

If you twist the white when you pull it and before you flip it up again does it turn whiter quicker or do you still need 75ish pulls. I e seen it done both ways and wonder if it's personal preference or if it makes a difference
@LoftyPursuits

+susan blue Kaluah is coffee flavored liquor. Its very sweet and creamy. But its alcohol too, so beware that if you drank a lot of it, you will get drunk. When I was a little kid, I did not know that and I found a bottle of it in my parents cabinet and me and my sister started drinking it and it was so good that we kept drinking it and we got drunk!

"folds the candy about 73 times" that means that there are 2^75 strings of candy, or 3x10^22 strands that is 300,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (three hundred sextillion) individual strings of candy by the end!
@LoftyPursuits

@ZevHoover
@ZevHoover 8 жыл бұрын
Lofty Pursuits some more back of the napkin calculation reveals that since the final candy is say ~1/2in in diameter and there are three hundred sextillion strand in there each strand in the final candy is about 10^-13in across, or about the same size as a single electron! that is mighty tiny.

2 questions. Instead of pulling why don't you just use white food coloring? Also, what do you do with the big chunks you cut off before you roll the candy into ropes? Btw I love your videos!
@LoftyPursuits
@LoftyPursuits 8 жыл бұрын
white food coloring is titanium oxide... not something I want to eat. pulling also traps air bubbles and provides more surface area for flavor transfer. The candy is not here just for looks, but tastes better when it is pulled.

I notice they wear heavier duty gloves when they shape the candy. Is this because of the temp. of the candy or the temp. of the heating table? or both? or something completely different?
@LoftyPursuits
@LoftyPursuits 8 жыл бұрын
+Luv2dance902 Temp of the candy. The heating table is quite uncomfortable to touch with your bare hands, but you don't really touch it directly making the candy. The gloves make it tolerable, but its hot enough that not everyone can do this work. No hotter than what a fry cook deals with, but then again, not everyone can take the heat of a fryer.
