There is an old German author called Karl May, whi wrote novels about the wild west. And one of the characters is called Hobblefrank(in the German language you link nouns to create a new one so: hobble Frank). This character was injured and therefore hobbles and I just think it is quite cool that he came up with this name, because he wrote the story in 1890 and didn't speak any English.

I love to wander around the park to relax and meditate😊...but I won't be able to do it for some weeks maybe a month since I had an accident in my motorbike the other day and got my knee hurt. I got 5 stitches. Then the wound got infected and the doctor had to remove the stitches😓. So now I have an open wound and I just have to wait for it to heal... it's quite probable that I'll limp a little bit after that, but the good thing is that there were no broken bones so with time I'll recover completely, or so the doctor said. Greetings from Argentina! You're one of the best teachers on you tube Tom! Thank you for your videos, they really help me to keep improving my English! 🙋

This lesson is another proof of how rich English is in terms of lexis. I would find it a bit challenging to find precise equivalents for all those verbs covered today in my mother tongue. Just curious if other speakers of European/American/Asian/African languages who are studying English tend to use so many different verbs referring to the same activity in their languages, too.

After two hours of walking straight ,my feeling towards my legs was numb and I had to trudge my way through the road . I was hit by a car and I was staggering (plodding) all the way back. Do you mind if we take a stroll at the park today? After he got injuried,he was limping . My shoes were extremely tight and I was wobbly hobble to the gym.
@jwb52z9
@jwb52z9 4 жыл бұрын
I hope Tom doesn't mind that I commented on this. When you say "my feelings towards my legs", that's not how a Native English speaker would say it. In English "my feelings towards my legs" would be like saying, "my feelings about my legs" as if you're thinking about them in some way like appearance or shape. Instead of "towards", it would be "my feeling in my legs", but really, it would usually just be "My legs feel numb" the way you have typed it. Also "through the road" makes it sound like you're going through the actual road like passing through it physically, not walking across it. Remember, staggering and plodding are different. It would be "I was wobbly and hobbling to the gym" or "I was wobbly and I hobbled to the gym".
