In the DR we say "vale" all the time too, super common to say that here, it's more of a Dominican-American thing not to say "vale" but we use it a ton here

I have been watching your videos for the last couple of days. They are very good. Most of the expressions are spot on, like the many ways to say “so”. In spanish “y punto” is actually used for when you are leaving no room for argument, similar to saying “that’s final” in English. “En punto” is actually the expression used for “on the dot”. Some of us also say “en serio” when we are trying to say for real.

¡¡Te agradezco mucho!! For not teaching curse words. I am a 18 year old Africam American who prayed to learn Spanish last year. I live a Christian Life and it's good that you don't curse. I speak at an intermediate level and I use Spanish to tell others the gospel. Which is Jesus paid the price for our sins that we wouldn't have to go to hell for them if we decide to follow him and repent of our sins and way. I hope God moves in your life.

I heard or read somewhere that the sound that you make when you are thinking is produced when your tongue is resting/relaxing; that resting sound is different in various languages because each language has a different 'resting' spot of the tongue in your mouth. So in English we say "umm" because that's the sound our mouth makes when the tongue is in its "resting" position in English. In Spanish the "resting" sound is different ("emm") because tongue rests in a different position for someone whose native tongue is Spanish. I'm not sure if that's 100% true but it makes sense!

One challenge that I’ve had is learning and understanding phrases that do not translate well to English in literal form. For example, “me tocó verla” = “I had to see her” but literally means “I touched myself to see her.” (FYI - I heard this from a Mexican speaker) Any advice or resources that you know of for learning phrases such as this?? My boyfriend is from Nicaragua and not sure if this is a Nica thing but he says "oistes" after practically every sentence. Also a Nica word I love for "cool" is tuani. We live in Panama and the word "dale" seems to be used a lot for "okay". Also, not sure if this is Nica or just that I have a weird boyfriend, but he exclaims "que barbaro/a" or "que barbaridad" all the time and it always make me laugh cause who even says "how barbaric!" in English haha!? But he uses it to mean like "how crazy". Keep up the amazing content!

Something curious about the word "este" in Japanese. It is "etto". Which if you think about it it sounds pretty similar to the word "este" in Spanish.

I always say encendio for lit and manin for like what's up bro "que lo que manin" but if I wana say like "hey my bro. What's up" I'll say like "oye mi pana." o "oye mi tipo"

Can you do a video on how people abbreviate in Spanish. I notice when people are speaking quickly (which is most), they tend to not say each letter and pronounce the words. For example when some people say “este” I hear “ete”. Things like This can be difficult to understand while learning Spanish, and can make me sound very foreign in my opinion. Can you make a video on comprehending this, and speaking like this.
