Here's the 1/72 scale Sunshine-L from Kotobukiya's Armored Core Variable Infinity line. This design may not be as flashy as other from the series but it's super cool and super detailed. It's also quite solid! I was thoroughly impressed with the build and really enjoyed it!

You may not like it but this is peak GA performance. EDIT: For Armored Core kits don't expect wide range of articulations from them because in the original games they relies mostly on boosters for faster movements. Walking and jumping is something you only do when you are bad at energy management. If you're interested future Armored Core kits reviews, I'd recommend these following: Aaliyah or Alicia Unsung (They are mostly the same kit with different legs and weapons), White Glint (4 Answer ver + V.O.B backpack) and UCR-10/A Vengeance (BIG FUCKING GRINDING CHAINSAWS RIPPING EVERYTHING OPEN).
@MrFlunkorg
@MrFlunkorg 5 жыл бұрын
Also, armored core tries to be more "realistic" compared to things like gundam. I'd say the amount of articulation seen here is about on par of what you see in the game.

The variation in design is pretty impressive in armored core. Try something from hogire or Rosenthal, they're way different from the bulky GA builds.

I am a huge fan of armored core. I've built 6 now, counting this one, and your review of it actually pushed me to get it. I bought this one because I was looking for a VI kit that would properly facilitate the style of the Armored Core V Grind Blade. I will say, the two kits DO NOT fit properly at all, and it was only through some very desperate connections that I was able to put the two together. They do work, however. As a huge fan of the AC series as well as Gundam, Zoids, Frame Arms, Hexa Gear and many other resin kits, I can say that of all the kits I have, Koto's Hexa Gear and AC VI line of models are similar in ratio of sturdiness to handgrenade. I've built the Alicia White Pearl, Alicia Unsung, Sunshine Feedback, Sunshine L, Stasis and Ambient. If you are fond of the amount of detail in this kit, you would be blown away at the amount of detail packed into Ambient and White Pearl.
@sidusher1726
@sidusher1726 3 жыл бұрын
I see you've made some other AC kits, actually of one that I am particularly not fond of due to it's sheer requirement of panel lining and paint. I do not know if you have figured it out by now, but in case you haven't; Armored Core is a series of video games for the ps2, ps3 and xbox 360, which involves the player putting together an AC using parts aquired throughout the game and maneuvering the AC in a fashion similar to the 00's trans am mode. This is mostly thanks to the extremely powerful boosters mounted everywhere on the AC. Watch this intro to the 4th game. It will show you what the most popular AC line is capable of. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gptxds1z06jOf5s.html The reason I am making this reply is entirely because you appear to have no idea what the things hidden under the panels in the back are. These are the most powerful booster type mounted on ACs. They act as a sprint function. My second favorite AC, Stasis, has a pair of them out in the open in the style of F-15 Eagle afterburners.

I know I'm a bit late to this party, but I gotta say I generally enjoy Kotobukiya kits more than Bandai ones. With Bandai I'm always left wanting... _something_ more from the experience. Bandai kits tend to straddle the line between model kit and action figure in awkward ways, leaning this way or that at bizarre points in construction, design, etc. Sometimes the engineers get overzealous and just... make something complex just to prove they can. Kotobukiya kits, on the other hand, tend to be much more straight forward. This part looks like this because of that and goes here because of there. They tend to have a more consistent design ethos. Maybe that ethos changes slightly from kit line to kit line and project to project, but as I put a kit together, I get the sense that everyone on the... "Kotobukiya Model Kit Production Team" or whatever are on the same page, and everyone involved in creating this kit or that kit had a shared vision for what they wanted and executed to achieve it. The end result is something that might not be an engineering master class or super articulated or this or that the way Bandai kits can be, but it's also something that doesn't feel like it's simultaneously being pulled in ten different directions.I build a Bandai kit and I come out of it wanting to fix this little aspect, or that little aspect. I build a Kotobukiya kit and I come out of it feeling satisfied.

Thanks for the review, I'd been eyeing this kit for a while. Will probably get the feedback version down the line instead. I actually started model kits on the variable infinity AC line, as i was a fan of the games. While bandai will almost always have the better gimmicks and stability in their kits, the sheer amount of detail in the AC line is pretty impressive. Most of them have a couple fragile detail parts/accessories, and some tend to fall apart, but they're certainly nice display pieces and really accurate to the game models. I'd objectively recommend checking out Ambient, Barbaroi, AC1 Nineball, White Glint AC4 ver. and White Glint + VOB. Pretty stable, good detail. Subjectively i love the design of Unsung but it falls apart a lot. Noblesse Oblige was my first so it's got a special place in my heart.

Yoooo an AC review!! I need to get around to building my AC kits... Armored Core fun facts: The whole point of the Armored Core franchise is the customization. The longer connection piece for the missile pod is probably there for other core types that might have the connection point lower, like maybe the TELLUS. The missile pods won't fit on the shoulders because they are Back Weapons, there are specific Shoulder Weapons for those connection points lol. The additional hidden boosters are part of the Overboost System. Feedback is the custom SUNSHINE-L from the character Roadie in Armored Core For Answer

You would not be wrong, but AC has a lot of variations in design. Each installment can have a more rounded, streamlined design and then a design similar to this. They even have 4 legs and tank treads. ACV specifically seems to be going for a more urban design, hence the boxiness and bulk.

@JazRejalde78 Wowie, its been a while since i made that comment, but; Well, i kinda stopped caring by this point tbh ,🤣 But to that end, i guess im more familiar with the more "humanoid but clunky" looking ACs from earlier era, specifically 3rd gens (2nd gen has that too, but more "retro futuristic" type of clunky feel to them) 3rd-gen eras, i still held dear and *much* prefer, as you coulda guessed by my obvious bias Think of 3rd gen poster boys like from Nexus for example (Evangel), parts consists exclusively from company called Mirage, which i think fits your "more roundy" description. Theres also Crest, another prominent corpo/company which made boxier looling design/parts. In this instance, it looked like neither since, well, as you just said, its from a generation (which from my understanding) thats completely disconnected from the earlier eras. Essay, i know. But oh well.
