A PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT part 1: There are seem to be a big confusion to some ppl with the terms CCT, TACP and JTAC. Let me break it down for the ones that are confused. CCT (comabt control) and TACP (Tactical Air Control Party) are what's known in the airforce as AFSC's (MOS for army/marines), aka a job (like a nurse e.g.). JTAC (is a qualification/status), just because u are a TACP or a CCT doesn't mean you are a JTAC, similar to just because you are a cop it doesn't mean that you are a detective or a swat member. Basically when you are a new tacp u are known as romad, once you've gotten a lot of training (usually through a deployment) then you'll get sent JTAC qualification school, if you pass then you become a JTAC. A CCT can also get sent to JTAC school to become a JTAC, I ran into some rangers who are JTACs
@jamisgood214 жыл бұрын
So I know this is really old...but the only think I'm confused on is can a non JTAC TACP still call in air strikes? If not then what do they do?
@ddll67094 жыл бұрын
@@jamisgood21 I've been out of the military for years now and I'm not sure if things have changed but when I was still in a TACP team that supports a conventional army team will have two members. A JTAC and a Romad (aka a non JTAC who is in training to eventually become a JTAC). The Romad can do everything (aquire the target, do the 9 line etc) but "clear hot" a fixed wing aircraft. The JTAC would be the one to sign off on the strike by saying "clear hot." Now obviously if God forbids something happens to the JTAC during a fight then the Romad will call clear hot. TACPs who are assigned to special ops teams are all JTAC qualified as it is a prerequisite to try out for spec ops teams. It'll just be a single JTAC usually. Now for Romads (non JTAC qualified TACPs) you will eventually go to a JTAC school to get qualified, you don't have to have a deployment experience as a Romad to go to attend the JTAC qualification course. I haven't verified this information yet but about 5 years ago I heard the TACP school curriculum was going to change. Once you finish the school house you go straight to JTAC school (basically doing away with the Romad position). I'm not sure if this is the case now though

@@jamisgood21 massive revisions happened in October of last year. Now all TACPs within the following months of graduating the 2 year TACP Schoolhouse will attend a Formal Training Unit (FTU) before being assigned to their units. The FTU will develop and educate TACPs on all things fire control and CAS, whence forth the TACPs if successful, will complete FTU with a JTAC qual.

Part 2, TACP's job: every new guy (aka romad) in the tacp's career field's goal is to eventually become a JTAC because calling air strikes is tacp's main job. How fast you earn a JTAC status depends on your performance and your unit. Some units get more time in the range and some don't, the more practice you'll get at calling airstrikes the more proficient you'll get at it. Also, if you are a scumbag (lazy, nasty attitude, doesn't want to do the dirty jobs) then no body would recommend you getting sent to JTAC school, that's really with anything in life, no body likes scumbags
@alexeysolovyov946510 жыл бұрын
JTAC (joint terminal attack controllers) - Are they calling for airstrikes only or they're also calling for artillery fire? For example we have guys who find and identify targets, guide an aircraft and artillery on the target. we're call them - "spotters".
@ddll670910 жыл бұрын
Oleksej Sołowiow They can call in artillery fire, though its rare for them to do so since the army have their own guys for that. They can also call fire from naval gunship (still also very rare since Afghanistan isn't within meters of a large body of water)

Versatility is Key as a TACP Special Warfare Airman, whether Call for 🔥💥 at Air Strikes, Naval Gunfire, and/ or Field Artillery " Spotter" detail ,as are USMC 0861 and US Army 13F, which They too, can become JTAC FAC-A Certified.

TACP and Combat Controllers are World Class Warfighters and Badass Battlefield Airmen , which only a few other Air Force Special Forces units imitate: Unit 669 and Unit 5101( Israel Air Force); Royal Air Force Pathfinder Regiment ( Great Britain); Air Force Special Forces ( France); Gardus Commandos ( India); National Army Aviation ( Colombia); 4 Troop ( Nigeria).🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪🤘⚡🔪🔥💀

So, correct me if I'm wrong, is ASOS just a generalization of the type of work JTAC, TACP, CCT, etc. do on a regular basis? Or is it a separate career field in the Air Force?

+Robert Garcia: So, correct me if I'm wrong, is ASOS just a generalization of the type of work JTAC, TACP, CCT, etc. do on a regular basis? Or is it a separate career field in the Air Force? The answer is ASOS is a unit that the TACPs belong to. TACPs consist of ROMADS and JTACS that support a specific level of Army command (Company, Battalion, Brigade, etc).

I love this job and unit ten times more than my shitty last job. Therefore I gave the USAF a second chance.

What do you mean? If you are confused, BDU stands for Battle Dress Uniform. So of course all of them are wearing BDU's. I think you mean woodland camo? Its because many special operators can request to wear any BDU that will help them complete their task, to my understanding.
