Always fun opening the incubator to see the baby quail that hatched over the last 3 days.

good job but he should have inspected for any sign of piping going on before opening that incubaterthen go in and remove the dry ones to the brooder

Not at all! 17-21 days is normal. 16 days is the earliest I've had a quail hatch.

No, hatch times do vary evev within the same group of eggs. 20 days is not uncommon.

We grind up the adult food in a coffee grinder for about the first 3 weeks. It's Game Bird food, the important part is having 28% protein.

Im at day 19, but i dont see any movement, how can i check if there is something alive in there?

I wouldn't open the incubator for another day unless you see movement then don't open it. I let them go 21 days & if they start hatching let them go for another 48 hrs.

It is called a HovaBator, pretty basic but you want to get one with a fan & egg turner. Our hatch rate went up considerably when we added a fan. What is ur lockdown humidity

I aim for 50-60 percent. I think having a consistent, non fluctuating humidity is more important than the number.

Typically there are not enough males or the birds are to old.

In SoCal we get $5 a dozen for the eggs. I've yet to butcher any of our birds (many while hunting). Our chicks are always fed, traded or sold in the first few weeks.

Incubatorwarehouse.com is a great source. I would highly recommend getting an egg turner & fan. Each will greatly increase your hatch rate.

This is a Hovabator, not the best but a functional,cheap,?popular incubator.

Sir my egg is 18days. No hatched. Why?? 😪

Hatch times do vary evev within the same group of eggs. 20 and even 21 days is not uncommon. Once they do start hatching don't be to anxious to open the incubator. Give them 36 hrs or so after you see the first ones hatching before opening the incubator.

It's normal to be nervous, 16 days is as early as they hatch, 18 days is more common. All incubators & environments are going to be different but don't start sweating until day 20.

I was really enjoying this until you mentioned you fed the chicks to snakes. I have just got my incubator today and this is my first time hatching. Mine are pets that produce eggs my quails are NOT for eating! How can you give sweet little chicks like that to snakes? I only clicked on your film to get some advice about using an incubator, this upset me a lot!

I'm sorry you were upset, my channel is clearly a mix of Koi, Quail & MAINLY Reptiles. People raise quail for a lot of different reasons, my adult flock are pets. I would never touch them & let them live out their lives well beyond the time they are productive. I don't harvest & eat birds we've raised but I don't condemn people who do.

I believe he said he feeds quail eggs to his snakes and reptiles, not the chicks.

You don't need to keep them in the brooder for 24/7 with 100F. To save your energy bills you should take them out to your garden or somewhere that is sunny. The sun will heat them better than any light source. Trust me I've been raising chickens for a long time without a brooder. If at night they are cold you can put a lamp next to them but do not disturb their sleeps. Also, if you have hens at night just let them sit on them.

Good tip, we do that as well. Usually after the first week or two depending on the outside temps.
