Hi Bill. Great save on the bent part. Hopefully it good enough to carry on. I am enjoying your Tich build and am looking forward to you getting it to run on air. Thanks for sharing. Joe

Day-um, I never thought of using the Starrett 196 indicator directly in the spindle like that. It’s so obvious, now! Thanks Bill. 👍

Looking good Bill. I tend to think of bronze as being a bit smeary. That swarf is nasty too. 😯 unlucky with the second one but great save.😀

I would ask why you did not machine the steam chest in the lathe? The photo of "Tich" on the cover of LBSC's book was built by the late Jim Balleny, a long time member of Bham Society and a friend when I started along the ME road as a 13 year old in 1954. I drove that loco, a small boilered version that ran beautifully, largely down to the high quality of the build.

Thank-you for sharing that great history with us! Wow, it is inspiring to hear such stories! I really appreciate your watching and commenting. Guess I just did the steam chests in the mill since that’s how I did them on my Allen Mogul. Thanks again, Harold! Bill.
