Pro tip: It’s relatively easy to get all the eevee evolutions without the name trick. Don’t use it when you need the evolutions to level up. Use the name trick to guarantee you get the shiny evolutions.

Save the Eevee naming until Level 42 requirements. You need to evolve each one to get to the next level. Found that out the hard way. Also, save evolutions that need an item (King’s Rock for instance) as you’ll need to evolve 15 that way.

The thing with the route is wrong! It only works if you missed a zygarde cell, if you didn't miss one, no cells will appear.

The route feature is much better now. It doesn't automatically complete when you get close to the end so you can walk right up to the end. And in my experience they spawn most of the time and always around the end of the route

I struggled a lot with evolve a magikarp, because for some reason there just wasn’t event spawning magikarp, and it was not as common as it used to be (I played in 2016-2017, quit, then rejoined like 2022 on a new account)

I'm sure you could get most of the mythicals via special research as long as you're in a certain part of the mew quest

you could also have mentioned that the Raid boss last ball is always either escape on the first nudge, or catch if it doesn't escape on the first nudge.

with the mythical discovery, getting to certain steps grants you research for meloetta and celebi. meloetta is unlocked at stage 2 (i think) and celebi is unlocked at step 8

I think the Eevee-evolution name trick resets after a couple years. Or else they reset it when they added level 42(?) tasks. I remember using it a few years back, and then trying it for level 42 and being surprised that it worked. But really stock up on Eevee and evolve them at random.

Buddy functionality idea / introduction of “bottle caps”: What if for a certain amount of Km walked with a buddy, the buddied Pokémon were to find a bottle cap where, when applied, would increase or decrease the buddy’s IVs by 1. For this idea, let’s say the Km needed to “find a bottle cap” were based on the rarity of the Pokémon and would multiply by 1.2x each IV gained. For example, based on the eggs the Pokémon hatch from, or the level raid needed for the reward encounter, would determine if you needed 20 (tier1), 30 (tier3), 40 (tier4) or 50Km (tier5) walked for a single IV change. If a trainer had a 10/15/15 IV Charmander, they would need to walk 148.832km (round to 149) with the buddy Pokémon to get to 100% IVs. If a trainer had a 10/15/15 IV Gible, they would need to walk 297.664km (round to 298) with the buddy Pokémon to get to 100% IVs. If a trainer had a 10/15/15 IV Mewtwo, they would need to walk 446.496km (round to 447) with the buddy Pokémon to get to 100% IVs. The same math would be applied to reduce IVs for PVP Pokemon. In addition to finding bottle caps with your buddy walking, perhaps they could be found in other activities by your buddy. Such as spinning stops/ raids/ gym battling / etc. This would also be EXTREMELY rare. To avoid problems with caught 100%s, the stat changes could be visibly different than normal stats with the following: * a notation on the Pokémon screen * different colored IVs showing a bottle cap was applied * the CP of these bottle capped Pokémon would be -1 of actual 100%s or PVP IVed caught Pokémon * the 100% bottle capped would not be searchable with 4* but would have a search just for “bottle capped.” Pros: - This would make spoofing or radar services less profitable and encourages more gameplay with the same Pokémon. - Entices player to “bond” with a single Pokémon for longer and therefore play the game more often to get the coveted 100% dex. - Allows all types of players to get 100%s while also not flooding the player base with actual 100%s. Cons: - All players would have access to the best Pokémon if they walk enough - The need to catch all Pokémon would be reduced slightly If you can think of any other pros/cons, reply to this comment so we can share our thoughts about the idea and maybe someone at Niantic will pick it up! I've seen comments on "infinity Master ball". It's for one of the researches, timed or special. Can't remeber now. These DOESN'T consume balls. I have confirmed this myself. And what happens apparently is that it goes for the Master Ball as well. So you catch the Pokémon with Master Ball and because it doesn't count, you can keep your Master Ball. Haven't seen any credible sources and haven't dared to try it myself 😅

Meloetta can always be obtained... The special research is 1 of the programmed special researches that unlocks when you reach a certain level. I just started an alternate account 3 weeks ago and got that research like around level 10 or 15... Can't exactly remember which level but I got meloetta from it.
