The fact that the fans are all korean and they clearly understood what she was saying yet they're still screaming like its not a sensitive topic

It hurts. It hurts so much. Because IU had the courage to mention him ... and remind artists that they are human, that its okay to have feelings...to show feelings. Yet, here are fans screaming... completely disrespecting the sincerity of the moment. If people were to care even a little bit.... It hurts because I'm trying to understand. Why they have to scream at a time like this. Respect and love. They're not hard things to do... I'm sorry Jonghyun. I'm sorry IU. Congratulations to IU on her daesang and all artists today. Pray for better days to come.

Still pissed at how they started screaming when their babe was on screen even while she was talking about a serious topic and about Jonghyun. They should respect her and are they even listening to her speech?

아이유가 선배답게 후배들에게 진심어린 맘이 느껴진다 특히 아이돌들은 어릴적부터 연습생으로만 살아왔기때문에 자아성장의 여유가 부족할수 있고 성인이 되었을테 정체성 혼란이 올 수도 있다 이런걸 알기에 더 저런 소감을 하고 싶지 않았나 싶다

this is why IU deserves to be respected and looked up to. she won an award but she took her time to mention Jonghyun, who she was also close to. not only that but she mentioned mental health and how important it is for the idols to prioritize themselves and their health. it's so nice that she said those words to those idols bc they probably don't hear those words often as depression is looked over as "not a big deal" in korea. those idols needed to hear those words and i truly hope they listened to her carefully and took her words to heart.

Is it just me or does anyone else also think they shouldn't have panned over to the artists section those two times? It was a pretty serious and deep speech. I was watching live and got kinda irritated when all you could hear was screaming as she's talking about losing a friend and the importance of the mental and physical health of her fellow idols that should really be taken more seriously😪

i think BTS definitely took IU words to heart, you can see they were applauding her speech for a while and jimin continued to applaud even when she was finished with her speech. i'm glad jungkook looks up to IU, she's a very talented singer and also so well spoken

IU is like an angel, she speaks so beautifully and you can feel her sincerity in the way she speaks. IU : “To be honest i’m still very sad, i sent off someone who was very precious to me as a person as a friend as an artist to a far away place. Why he was in such pain and suffered so much, i think i partly understand , it is not an emotion that I’m completely unfamiliar with. I’m still very sad and apologetic to him. I’m sure i’m not the only one feeling this sadness but we’re people whose daily lives are so busy that we have to plan for our next month, next year. It’s sad and frustrating that our reality will not allow us to dwell in the sadness for as long as we want..........cheering when you’re happy,crying when you are sad, being weak when you are sick,and not being at your best when you’re sick...i hope these natural things can be expressed by artists without concern and those who see them (in this condition) don’t think much of it either. Artists are people who are supposed to console others and i get they are professionals but i hope they take care of themselves first as they are people too and console themselves so they don’t get sick and hurt whole they are trying to hide these thing. I, truly , sincerely hope this doesn’t happen.”

Fans really need to be reminded of proper decorum. Regardless of who was speaking then, you can tell that even the director acknowledged the weight of what IU was talking about then that they turned off the BGM. The moment was supposed to be a serene one in remembrance of a person the whole industry lost yet people only focused on their biases and wasn't even able to tell that the hall was made quiet during IU's speech for a reason. Damn.

내 가수가 소중하듯 다른 가수도 소중한 거 알아주셨으면 좋겠습니다. 유애나는 오늘부로 아이유가 대상을 받고 소감을 얘기하는 자랑스러운 영상을 자주 찾아볼텐데 그때마다 소감 얘기할때 물려서 들리는 다른 팬분들의 환호성, 아이유가 대상 소감말하는데 타팬분들이 그만하라고 외쳐서 아이유가 소감 중간중간 계속 더해도 되냐고 허락맡는 모습, 앵콜 때 타팬들이 자기 가수 이름 외치는 소리 때문에 묻히는 아이유 목소리.. 이런것들이 많이 걸릴 것같습니다. 유애나로써 아이유에게 주어진 시간 오롯이 아이유만이 다 즐겼으면 했는데 너무 아쉽습니다. 타팬분들 자기 가수가 소중한만큼 아이유도 유애나에겐 전부고 가장 소중한 존재입니다. 제발 남의 가수라고 집중안하고 그런 모습은 이제부터라도 반성하시고 성숙한 팬문화 보여주셨으면 좋겠습니다..

엄숙한 상황에서 화면에 좋아하는 가수가 비추어졌다고 함성을...ㅠㅠ물론 일부 팬분들의 감정을 이해 못하는 건 아니지만 때와 상황에 맞추어 가수를 응원하는 것이 적절하지 않나 하는 생각이 드네요 .. 쨌든 대상받으신 아이유님을 비롯하여 작년 숨가쁘게 달려온, 우리의 눈과 귀를 행복하게 해주신 모든 아티스트분들께 수고했다는 말 하고싶어요!! 다들 수고많으셨습니다

다시봐도 화나는건 여전하네요. 자기가수만 소중한가요 아이유도 데뷔 10년만에 처음 받는 골든 디스크 대상 수상소감 자리입니다. 다른 발언 할 때도 아닌 종현 추모하는 때에 환호라니요. 카메라 감독탓하지 마세요. '다른 아티스트분들도'라고 언급했으니 비춰줄 이유가 충분했습니다. 설령 아이유 목소리가 들리지 않았다하더라도 다른 가수가 나와서 자신의 수상소감을 말할 때는 그 가수의 말을 들어주는게 예의인겁니다. 멤버 정국이 아이유의 열렬한 팬이라고 들었는데 환호소리 들을 때 기분이 어땠을까요. 이런 일 정말 다시는 없었으면 좋겠습니다.

I really admire IU for her speech. She's so well spoken and had a lot of meaningful things to say. I hate though that those fangirls started screaming for bts/wanna one when they were showed on screen tho. i'm a BTS fan too, but honestly i'd be yelling at them to shut up if i were in that audience. I'd want to hear her! other than that upsetting thing I applaud IU, and all the stars that night.

What a beautiful speech from IU!!! This was less than a month after Jonghyun died and to stand up there and talk about him must have been tough. I applaud her for taking the opportunity to tell all the artists that they are people first and to take care of themselves. We all agree the fans were very rude and inappropriate. We get that you love your stars, but one of the ironies is that around this time or some time after, BTS talked about disbanding because of the pressures of being idols. Maybe fans need to think about this more often when they're so busy showing their love.
