It does seem to me that this new generation can't tear down historical sites and communities fast enough. Without thought for preserving nature, trees, waterways or anything. It's heartbreaking to me to know that all of the forests and my ancestor's homes too are just destroyed. I don't adapt to change well at all.

Wow todd, what a great day it was for you, an great weather to go along with it as well. You uncovered many artifacts from a bye gone time in history. Not alot of coins or gold an silver but things that are very important to your story of the the old home sites that once stood on that property. If we could only go back in time an see the land, an all it's surroundings as it was then. Your video was awesome as always. An the stories just keep getting better an better as you tell them. I'm sure when you have more free time to get back out an search some more, you will find many more artifacts that are just waiting to be discovered on that land as you are making out the where abouts it all was located. An we give many thanks to the ones that have giving you the permissions to tell the story an the history of the land they now call home. As the ones before them did as well, just in a different time on this earth. Even though they have been long gone from this land for many years now, you are still telling a story piece by piece of how they lived an what was left behind that noone would have ever known about had you not been on site to give us the history of it all. Thanks Todd, for taking the time out of your busy life/schedule to give us a part of history that will no longer be forgotten. Most people don't have a clue about; who, where, when, why, or what was going on, in that forgotten time long ago. Hard work for sure. Your going back 200-500 years ago an retelling what was takening place on that land by native americans to immigrants from far away that made there way to a new county to start a new life to the ones that live there today. An that's just awesome to me. It's just a history thing. There's nothing like being able to find out the history of our world one piece at a time. Like a puzzle of putting peoples lives back together once again. It's just so amazing to rediscover artifacts that have been buried for so many years. An noone not knowing anything about its past. It's a great thing we love to do. Till part 2 todd, have a great weekend an as always safe an happy hunting/digging. An lots of luck on your next finds. 😁👍👍

Thank you and Julian for allowing us to see his awesome property and the pieces of modern(1700's) and old, millions of year old fossils, they were amazing so obviously that area was a sea at some time, it boggles the mind! Is there also any way to identify what Tribes lived there and was it contemporary with early settlers? I am originally from New Jersey and in Tuckerton just south of where I lived ,there is a midden of shells in the tidal marsh that was over 30 feet high 2000 years ago. It is one of the few that still exist along the East coast, so those things in Julian's yard could tell us a real story and they surprised me being inland. Great Job! Cheers, Rik Spector

Thanks Gaye. I’m always after the story and love finding that research pays off. Yes I would love to find silver and gold or old coins but I’ve come to the conclusion that nobody in these parts had money. They lived off the land and had hard lives. I’m honored to share their stories even if it is through artifacts in the ground or photos or the story itself. I feel like metal detecting for treasure sake it robbing from their soul. I must tell their story. Thanks!

AHD absolutely. It's the small artifacts that tell the true stories. Julien had clam shells. I've found a lot more of the fossilized clam shells here in Florida. When I'm out in the country where my friend lives when we walk I've found quiet a few when people get a load of the white rocks from the quarry I find the shells in them. I've also found some things that look like those things chiggs wife likes. I think she woukd do great with a channel of her own. I love how she is with animals. I think they both must be good people because of those sweet animals

Hey Todd, It was sure nice of you to introduce Julian to us, and to see all the things that you and he had found. What a rare treat. The history of the Mauzy's and Hook's is very interesting and it is wonderful that you are tracking them for us like a bloodhound on the scent. Plus you have that bag full of pocket watches story that sounds intriguing too. If any of the watches are in good enough condition to read the markings or numbers inside you could probably get a jeweler to date them. That might tell Julian if they date from the time of the robbery or not?! There were so many curious things coming out of the ground today, I couldn't say for sure what many of them were. I really like all the old furniture or cabinet parts, tho some of those lock parts could have come from a small jewelry box or even a writing desk. They were rather unusual. Thanks for such a wonderful adventure. I do hope you were able to return and take another more thorough hunt of the place. There seemed so much more to cover. Thank you as well for the encouraging word of the Lord, at the end of your video's, it is always appreciated. May you and yours have a God blessed day.

Hey Lesa I do return, with Johnny Bottles and my son and did just as well, but I was able to find buttons on this one since they were being masked by these larger items shown in this video. Julian was a fantastic owner. I rarely get this kind of enthusiasm and help like he did in both of my digs at this site. However, he did not want me to show the watches on camera for concern of having to deal with the possibility of the law eventhough its so many years after the fact...okay be honest now....my wife says I talk to much....being an Architect and professor I'm a big picture person, but she is not and I have some folks tell me i talk too much...LOL

@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives Hey Todd, I am known as a person of a few thousand words, so I don't mind your talking at all. ...ha ha ha... How else are we going to get the full picture?! We live too much in a truncated world where everything is a two second sound bite, and most have lost their patience to listen. One of the reasons I enjoy your channel is that you are comfortable talking in front of your camera and will really tell us things. I can understand Julian not wanting to complicate his life by showing the watches. I'm sure I would be conflicted if I found out something on my property might have been stolen even if it was decades ago. Any honest person would feel that way. It was sure great of him to come on camera and talk a bit and tell us about his finds that he could show. He seemed like a very nice fellow. We get to meet the nicest people through you, it makes me happy to know there are such interesting folks out there, still willing to share such interesting things. Those fossils were amazing. I'm glad you went back with Johnny Bottles and you son and look forward with keen interest for your next episode.

I'll guess the previous owner was a rock hound and did some slabbing in the yard. Left some scraps out there with pieces in the water tub tossed into the long grass by the lawn line. A furrow gets cut and buries the stone cut waste for you guys to find. Maybe? ✌

Wow ! , the owner has a great collection of trilobites . I've never seen them curved like that though . It looks like they were all boiled , and curled up and died . (to me) They are probably just another species from the ones in my collection . My favorites fossils are Ammonites . It's amazing to me that some species only grew up to a half dollar size , and other species grew up to the size of a semi truck tire . I liked that buckle . Wish list is to find one too .

I am pretty sure someone was doing lapidary work with the cut stones. The thin piece looks like it could be jasper that would be a slab cut on a wet saw. It is a perfect thickness for making cabochons (dome shaped) for jewelry. The mystery critter in the rock with the shells is a crinoid stem. A bizarre looking aquatic animal that looks like a plant. Too bad I can't post a picture here they are really strange looking. Worth while looking up. You might want to do a fossil hunt here or nearby. It would be awesome to find the source of those. Good quality fossils.

Awesome video! I was finally able to sit down and watch. I've been trying to gain permission on my grandmothers childhood farm.
