God, bassoons have the most beautiful sound. Sincerely, a clarinetist

As the (bassoon) bells were ringing, and the cannons were firing, I was thinking "Where are the fireworks?". And then, BOOM, right in the face! Y'all are sooo funny!

We attended one of their concerts when they were students at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. They are excellent musicians. They did a medley of Lady Gaga tunes, dressed in outfits that matched the tunes. The highlight of the concert was the Disney Princess tunes. They were dressed as the Disney Princesses. Jasmine's prince, Aladdin, was a young man playing a contra bassoon. We went to many concerts and recitals at Eastman, but this one really stood out.

This is one of the best music videos I've ever seen on KZfaq, and that's saying something. Absolutely beautiful playing, beautiful sound, and great visual stuff as well. I was really impressed with the long descending run they played, starting about 3 minutes in, in which each person played part of it, then seamlessly handed it off to the next, to the next, etc., so they all took turns participating in this very long descending pattern and if you weren't watching, you'd never know it was four separate musicians in turn. It sounds like one person playing the entire thing. Just wonderful in every respect. I am now a subscriber. Congratulations and thanks to the Breaking Winds Bassoon Quartet.

A nice touch, adding the sound effects. The 1812 just isn't the 1812 without the cannons and bells. Nice arrangement, nice sound. Thanks, girls.

Don't mess with my mom! I came home home from school and Mom told me to bring all my stereo equipment down and refused to tell me what I did to Mom for her to confiscate all of my my stereo equipment. Once down he told me to set the speakers in the windows and the next door neighbor got hit with a 150 decibel dose of the 1812 Overture for 8 hours straight. Mom won! Both Dad and I never wanted to hit Mom's bad side. Baltimore's Symphony Orchestra did a great rendition of this, but I would actually love Fort McHenry to canon up again and host the BSO. The thing is with canon when it shoots a ball, the sound is disappointing, but when it fires you feel it! The British ships could be mimicked by pyrotechnic barges, and modern effect like water cannons and blasts of air could make the audience feel they were there. And those around Baltimore's Inner Harbor would enjoy the show before the fireworks and the BSO sound could be piped there as well.

This is my favourite piece; our local symphony used to do an outdoor concert each Independence Day and the mayor would line up his collection of cannons to go with it. You'd stand next to them with fingers in your ears and just FEEL the concussions hit you in the chest. When the Tsar's Hymn comes in (4:43)...that was the best!
