Flintknapping is definitely a different animal. I have a bunch of experience in many crafts. Bladesmithing, welding, stone and wood carving, leatherwork... it's all a walk in the park in comparison. Even bowmaking is. This doesn't feel like shaping a material. It's more like a mix of chess, juggling knives and trading stocks. I'm sure if you had a brain scan while knapping the whole thing would be lighting up like a Christmas tree

I like to compare flintknapping to chess. I love both, but they are very difficult hobbies.

Jack, there seems to be an unwritten and unexplained reason why a large blade like point cant look like a hunting point. But in my view each point is an artistic expression. In other words, it realky doesnt have to look like one that some indian would have done 600 years ago. Its art, so why not do some "fantasy" points, starting with one thats 5 to seven inches long and shaped something like a big old hunting point?
