I know you don't really care but if anyone does there are over 200 18xx games (so more than one per potential year starting with "18"): boardgamegeek.com/boardgamefamily/19/series-18xx

@@AlexTheUruguayan You're correct. I don't care.

@1:15:10 Have you tried 18Rhl: Rhineland? I tend to feel the same way you do, operational games tend to bore me a bit, but 18Rhl has wowed me four times now (four plays, four wows). It's like threading a needle while your opponent's driving off-road.

I have not. Will look into it.

Lonny? He's not german. But he's doing a lot lately, like 1840 and 18Mag

@39:20 You're thinking of 1862/EA

The similarity of names makes them all run together for me now. It was a whole lot easier when there were only a dozen or so. :D

@@calandale "In my day we only had a handful of 18xx games and we liked it!" Seems like the last year that there were only a dozen games was 1995. :D

Yeah...but even after that the newer ones were really boutique and PnP games. Plus, I could write off the whole 1829 series as crap. The only ones that were getting played in my experience were '30, '56, '70, and '35 (for whatever reason). Hmm...and 2038.

@@calandale Tried 1829 for the first time this past summer and it was horrible. I suspect it would be slightly less horrible without the survey parties but christ what a boring game.

Yeah. I had played all the old '30 based games and was actually shocked that AH had asked Tresham to make '30 based upon how hideous the originals were. Very very long and everything was decided within the first turn or so.
