Wow, 1896 was the year that my grandmother was born! With the advent of the motorcar, she decided that she had been thrown from a horse for the last time & never looked back. In fact, she was the first licensed female driver in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada when it wasn't considered to be a woman's place to operate a motor vehicle. If I had a quadricycle, I'd dress in period clothing and tour around the neighbourhood with it just for fun!

Thanks for such a great detailed video! I really enjoyed watching and figuring out how it all worked. It was a very ingenious but simple design. Love how the rocker at the rear controls the valve and the spark at the same time, for both cylinders! Also love the differential gear design! You did a great job of documenting the operation of this little wonder, most videos I've seen are not as detailed as yours. Thanks!

I meant to say that in 1903 when Ford started Ford Motor Company that he purchased his engines from the Dodge Brothers. So. Mr. Alameera - you are correct, the Quadricycle in 1886 did have an engine made by Ford, Henry Ford.

No idiot.. dodge brothers got the idea from ford in the first place

El diferencial está dentro del engrane por el que pasa la cadena, puedes verlo en el acercamiento del minuto 6:00, si pones pausa, posiblemente verás los pequeños engranajes cónicos girando dentro.

@Fersomling You can build a Rhodes Car bicycle (2 seat) and put a motor bicycle engine or tiller engine on it and do the same thing, but go about 40mph.

I took a bunch of close pictures of the Quadricycle in the 1980s and the gear and pulley ratios didn’t seem to make sense but now I think it was because they had a belt on the crankshaft that went around the full outer diameter and not the pulley on the side. I have to find those pictures and look again. It makes a lot more sense here although it is still a pretty high gear.
super awsome i want to derive it also whats the top speed on this here machine?

that is a pretty simple & slow revving engine & i shouldn't it'd be to difficult to adapt it to run on steam

Mr. MOTORMASTER they did a scene like that on the Walton's with two ladies in an old Model A. The one was driving and the other had never ridden in a car before.

The real one is not far from me at the Henry Ford Museum. I've seen it several times over the years. This certainly looks very close. The dash appears red on this replica, of course on the original it's black. This also looks much better than the 117 year old original.
nice replica. Imagine such a quad with todays hi tech compomponets.

Is that a hit and miss type engine with some kind of unseen speed governor, or is it just misfiring really badly when it gets up to high speed? :) Also, the cam only operates the exhaust valves (and the spark plug on the opposite cylinder...) from what I remember? The intake being suction-based on springs? What kind of speed did you get up to?
