Smell is powerful. My first dog got pancreatitis and ended up in the hospital for a week. She wasn't getting better, and I thought it was the end. Then I thought to bring her an old, smelly t-shirt I'd been sleeping in. She finally had a good, long sleep that night, and woke up full of energy. I think that smelly t-shirt saved her life.

@barryevans791 Lol, my pittie puts herself under the blankets and wouldn't be able to sleep if not under them... she's 14 and still alive and thriving. It depends on how heavy the duvet is though I guess, I sleep with a light duvet.

My dog used to sleep in bed with me, but once I left a blanket on the floor, he claimed it as his own. I miss sleeping with him, but I want him to do what he wants.

Initially I kennel trained my dog. He slept in his kennel until I was certain he was house trained. As soon as he was, I let him sleep on a dog bed right beside my bed. I kept him on his own bed for a year or more since I was of the mind that it wasn't good for their behavior to allow them to sleep with you. Then we moved across country... and drove. We stayed in an AirBnB while we found a new home to buy and he started sleeping with us then. In our new home he has slept with us since we got here. He has his own beds, and he will sleep in them until we go to bed... and then he'll climb up with us. We have a king size bed, but a 63 lb bully can still make it a bit uncomfortable sometimes. :)

That's nothing try having a lab shepard at 120lbs and all I have is a full size bed. I'm 65 4'11 and have to climb to my spot at the very top of the bed. I sleep sideways on it and dog and cat get the rest and the window. But we manage

When I need to practice my harp, my Maltipoo likes to cuddle next to me so he can feel the vibration of the harp strings. So I don't feel guilty about taking practice time away from playing with my dog. He's just as happy to feel the music along with me.

5:30 I give my Norwegian Elkhound a section of raw beef leg bone six to twelve inches long, initially with some traces of meat on it, and he does ape with it. keeps him busy for hours. The breed is not as big as most people imagine, but in Scandinavia these dogs, just ovr knee high and about fifty pounds, are used to herd reindeer and hunt moose and other large game. When I board him (alwaysat the kennel where he was born) he loves to play with the breeder's horses. People ask what breed he is, I say "a conversation piece." He loves car rides and running errands with me, especiall when meeting the people at home centers. At the bank they are only half-joking when they say they can't serve me without my ID, "So where's 'Dash?" He seems indifferent to TV, and while he will spend a little while on the bed with me, he usually hops down after a few minutes, preferring to sleep on a rug by my bed or in a central location where he anybody going anywhere in the house has to pass by him, so h knows when and where his pack-people are going.

Not letting my dog sleep in my bed has never even been a thought. A real dog lover is going to tell you that our dogs aren't "just dogs" they are individuals with their own personality and they are family. They are just as important as any human, and in most cases more important. They are more important because they do more for us than any human ever could.

I have an 18 month old beagle. He doesn’t sleep in our bed only because our first one became protective of other dogs. He’ll curl up on the couch while I’m watching TV but bedtime he’s in the crate. Oh and beagles are like Swiss clocks when it’s time for a meal. I have him on a 6 ft leash and he’s perfectly happy. Being a scent hound his nose is forever on the ground. Fortunately he makes himself tired with the zoomies after a long walk. He’ll grab a chew toy and run around in circles or figure eights around the first floor. My boy is plenty happy.

I have a 2 year old beagle who is a mooch but we can’t help but to give him the last bite. And after a long day of being out in the yard while we were out, poor guy just wanted to snuggle and get scritches. Usually we drop him off at my parents house so he can play with their beagle but my mom just had surgery so the two beagles constantly playing would be too much. When we got home, He actually ran to the couch while looking back at me and then crawled on my lap. He doesn’t sleep with me either. There’s too many interesting smells in our room for him to settle down. He’s a sweet dog

I love my dogs. I have a lab mix and a terrier mix. Both are awesome creatures. I wish I had more of them. I would love to get a service dog for my daughter who has epilepsy. Is there an place I can find one? I live in Wisconsin.

I sleep in the same bed as my puppers. I’m still not convinced it’s my bed. She somehow takes up 4/5ths of the available space. I wouldn’t have it any other way. 😊

Indeed they have. I’ve been exceeding blessed to have been accepted as part of the pact of wolves I helped to volunteer to acclimate them to humans for 2 of the best summers of my life. I have a special bond with my dogs, but knowing that a group of wild animals have chosen to accept you as one of their own is a precious gift.

My dogs belong to other family members that I live with. We have a dog named Lilith she’s a Belgium Shepherd. We also have a a bulldog named Brandy and Lois and Brandy are good friends and they sleep together outside. If I had my way I would bring them in the house and let them sleep with me but they’re not my dogs. But those two dogs I love them both. I love them more than some people I know I have a deep compassion and love for dogs. I think dogs are beautiful animals. I also think they’re very intelligent. But whatever they are, there’s some of the best friends I’ve ever had in my life.😁😁👍👍❤️🐕

My dog was bred to be a watchdog. I can’t sleep with her in my bed because she seems to think that means she needs to be on watch. She nearly gave me a heart attack when my roommate got up at 2 AM to get a drink of water from the kitchen. I do pull her into bed for some morning cuddles before I get ready for work or get started for the day on the weekends.

Surprised you didn’t mention giving them a stinky tee shirt with your sweaty smell on it. It works very well to put in their kennel pre flight to keep them calm

I've a 2.5 Yr old jack, a 6mth old jack and a 3 year old cat. We all sleep in my bed in a big heap. Their choice and mine of course.

my pet psychic said my dog loves it when i let my pomeranian onto my bed in the morning. psychic said he called it Bedtime in the Morning. now we do betime in the morning every single morning. he licks my face slowly like it's his job to wake me up that way lol i've never had a dog that liked this before.

Warning, I was fostering, an abused dog and direct eye contact can be seen as a threat. She bite my face. I almost lost an eye. Latter we became best friend and yes I still have a scare. Lesson learned

As an old dog trainer I too was quite surprised that they brought up eye contact in that manner. Our dogs were Imports and took the eye to eye thing as a challenge.

I am an ornmntal fish farmer, last year I adopted 12 dogs and many cats that were thrown away on the streets, in recent months I have had difficulty providing food for them. I don't know what else to do!! May God help me

My dog loves watching tv, hates peanut butter to fetch and she sleeps all over in the same room w/me, which includes sleeping w/me.. yet she gets hot, so moves to a cooler place to sleep, as she has 3 beds & a favorite rug. Despite these she’s a very happy & loving dog. And thank god, she doesn’t slobber all over my face, but gives me a lick on the arm that’s brushing, scratching to massaging her muscles after runs. 💜✌🏼🦋🐕(she does look like the Apple dog, that blonde/tan w/a curly tail (a must for her breed😉)

"long lasting chew treats" - there is basicly nothing which mine wont destroy in a few moments. i was drunk and brought her a chewy "bone" in the size of 1 meter. i tried to cut it with different tools and barley had a chance but she just bit things off this bone like it was a cake.

We had a dachshund growing up. When I went to school, he would sleep in my room. One time when coming back from the beach, he greeted us at the door like he always did but he was wearing the paper bag I had to deliver papers with. He had been lying on it in my room and got tangle up in it.

Border Collie's are happiest when they have a job to do. If you don't find them one, they will find there own. And mine are at least as 'smart' as a 5-6 year old - or the average teenager today.

When I was with my ex, her chihuahuas always cuddled with me............now that she is gone they wish me goodnight and then lay elsewhere. I get up, get into the shower.......and they are back in my bed. I don't know how to take this....but they love me. (the ex isn't dead, we broke up) Even she understood they were better with me.

Im not a fan of leaving chewy treats with my dogs after I’ve left the house….dogs can choke on harder to chew treats like raw hides and such. A toy with hidden peanut butter is a better idea IMO….but it may not last as long. I usually give my dogs a small treat before I leave for the day. They eat it and then go lay down in their beds cause they know I’m leaving for awhile.
