I've been listening to podcasts about AI - but I really appreciated seeing it in action. I can see some benefits and it's truly jaw-dropping to see how quickly information comes back to the user. I feel a bit overwhelmed at all the implications: * what does it mean to work with intelligence that is purely data-driven and has no nervous system, conscience or emotions? * what are the implications for society of information being processed ever faster? * is it true that we will 'save' time? I'm reminded of women being promised that laundry machines, dish washers, etc... would 'save time' and free up leisure - and yet it doesn't really feel that way. The pace of modern life seems to spin ever faster, in many ways. That is, will the online world just speed up, with businesses competing to 'out-pace' one another in an attention-based economy? * what will happen to so many sectors of workers whose labour may be replaced by AI? * how will our own brains change if we outsource more and more 'writing' and 'thinking' to AI? (e.g. we know that our brains are changing as we shift from page to screen-based reading). I don't want to resist AI, but I do think we'd be naive to not consider the potential downsides as well as upsides to these shifts. I know for me that making the time to write, for example, slows down and helps organize my thinking (and feeling) and probably is rewiring my brain as I make new connections and articulate things. Again, I appreciate this introduction and overview - and I find myself needing time to digest the vast implications, on a personal - but also a societal level. Thanks, Louise.

Are you the least bit concerned that since these tools are making it so easy and fast for people to make content, there are going to be even more content creators competing for the same audiences? As someone who's just getting started in this space, I worry about the onslaught of new players in an already crowded environment. On the other hand, it does make us need to be better so we stand out from the crowd. Just wondering your thoughts on that.

Omg.....this is so exciting, thank you for sharing these. It's important to embrace the future of AI and see how we can play with it... engage those critical thinking skills though - we need to learn how to grow with it :D
