Good for you man. From experience, consider finding some support, though. I don’t know you, but for myself, the year/365 day mark things changed and without a counselor I am pretty sure I would have relapsed. Still, 224 days is awesome.

Going on 4 years clean for me. Congrats my friend. Stay strong. I talked to a professor about my previous life when I was a drug addict and he mentioned he was an alcoholic years ago. He said addicts have a different perspective of life when they get clean because they know what it feels like to be dead inside and once you are clean you realize how beautiful life is and love every day. That resonated with me a lot.

I just had a talk with my parents about me relapsing back into taking drugs and drink after being arrested for drugs this time last year I saw my mother cry and my father's anger and it did nothing to change my mind. I felt like shit and had given up on changing. I went on my phone to forget about it and hide myself in the internet and I saw your video. You might have given me the strength to try again with what you just said. Thanks

The phone is a bigger addition than all the addictions put together. The rehabs are full of internet addicted people. I'm 18 years sober but this phone is sticking to me like a parasite. Yesterday I saw a guy walk into a moving car while texting. But... Maybe today, just like you, I might just fxck it out of my life. Best of luck. Time for self-love

10 months no alcohol here after 17 years. Congrats brother. My takeaway from addiction is that people who never experienced that do not understand the vast mental swings and demons that takeover your mindset. 99% of my friends we're made at bars, I quit, now maybe have 2 friends. It takes time to recover and time to rebuild socially. Isolation can be extreme and it's important to have people around. I'm rooting for you 100% and here's to another 19 years! You are an inspiration.

I am 8 years clean and sober and I am so proud of myself and all those that have fought these demons, addiction and are living a successful recovery. Thank you Russell for having the courage to speak about your past and your bright future. I was severely injured in Afghanistan and subsequently prescribed painkillers during months and months of recovery and rehab. Through treatment, I realized that my youth led to my adulthood being predisposed to addiction and that I would have the fight of my life on my hands. As my life and family were being destroyed from the inside out, i reached the lowest point of my life and knew if I didn't change and get off these pills I would be broke and worse possibly dead. Through a strong support system and my determination to change my life, I've been slowly conquering my addiction and living my best life. Thank you Russell and for all those out there battling addiction...you can do it and I have faith in you, even if you don't!

Watching this as I couldn't watch the 20 years victory that a friend sent (congrats on the 20 Mr Brand) I'm today 27 months and 15 days sober. My alcoholism was created out of association and then routine. Luckily, my addiction was a few years, but those few years caused so much chaos that I am of course, ashamed of, but I no longer dwell upon. I own my mistakes but am moving forward and not living in the past. I'm close to regaining access to my son and I am living a life now with so much positive energy in it, I feel so very blessed. Identifying with so much you're saying fella makes me smile and I just want to again, congratulate you on your 20 years clean and thank those around me who stuck around and supported me. The tools learnt from my S.M.A.R.T meetings and to say to anyone in addiction, if you want to get clean, you CAN get clean. You ARE strong enough and ARE worth it. Stay strong all 💪🏼

CONGRATULATIONS Russel! A friend visited last week, a 53 year old mother of 3 children. She is a big fan of yours and saw you talking about recovery, it gave her the courage to admit she had an issue with alcohol. She studied your journey and applied it to her life, she went to AA, got a sponsor, a therapist, support from friends and family. This was a 2 years ago, and she had the courage to do it through the duress of lockdowns and madness in Australia. She held on and her life has changed dramatically. Your influence is far reaching Russell! Thank you!

Good for you Russell! I haven't had any Alcohol in almost three years now. I stopped drinking when I realized that 99% of all bad decisions I'd made was after being under the influence of alcohol. Feels great to wake up in the morning never having a hangover. Tried weed, but never got hooked into using any drugs. I think one of the main problems with society today is the lack of community. I see people walk their dogs reading stuff on their phone, not actually being aware of the world. Others blindly go to work and acts as robots, not using their critical thinking ability and ignoring what their body and mind says. I'm in the process of going minimalistic by selling most of my belongings, and eventually moving onto a sailing boat with which I'm planning to be a net positive for the world ;) Cheers to you bro!

19 years is definitely something to be proud of!! So is 19 weeks, so is 19 days. Anyone making these goals should feel proud! One step at a time I have a few people I care about that I wish I could help, but I know they can't start the journey until *they* want the change...
