It was only considered a Red Summer when we fought back. But every hundred years prior as we were getting lynched, burned, raped and killed it was business as usual.
@HawaiiMclovin69
@HawaiiMclovin69 4 жыл бұрын
@_jeff _ by your own race what? You think we coined the phrase? A majority killed that summer were still black. You had scared/paranoid white people that would periodically put out articles warning other whites that an impending race war was going to occur. Saying that black people were planning an uprising, and every once in a while they'd start riots and would terrorize black people. 1919 was the year they decided enough and they fought back. They killed a minimal amount of white people and the riots those people started did millions in damage. Burning down court houses, storming jails and freeing suspected murders just so they had more people to kill us.

@@po5333 thing I find most funny is how people lie to themselves about history to make themselves feel better. "You're in a worse of situation because you don't try, not because the system fucked you over". Without picking up a book people create a fantasy that perpetually makes it seem like we were the root cause for everything because it puts blame on us. I decided not to argue because arguing with people who create their own history to resemble a reality their comfortable with is pointless. So yes, I would tend agree with you, the truth hurts. Which is why people reacted the way to what I said.

The only thing I don't like about this is they did not depict how hard the blacks fought back despite being outnumbered. That's an important part of the story. They also left out how the white mobs cut off access to vital supplies coming into the black communities during that time.

People saying the ‘blacks’ do this and the ‘whites’ do that are really missing the point here, there will be deviants but I would argue the majority of people just want to have equal rights so attacking each other by grouping people by races is not going to help anyone, there is no way everyone can live together with true equality with people attributing certain individuals actions to a whole race its the same with religion and gender not everyone from these groups are against each other, stop alienating them people.
