Short video of the Ruston & Hornsby 9XHRC diesel engine running at the Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally, Beaufort, Victoria, Australia.
This engine was built in 1934 and is rated 132 horsepower @ 265 rpm.

We used this very engine and the crossley in 16 cotton grinding factories in nigeria where I was chief engineer for eleven years between 71 and 83. The sound of this engine under full load is something to remember. The good old days

They used these in tea factories in sri lanka .in fact Great Western estate Talawakelle had one in the fifties perhaps it is still there

Diesel-powered, not steam-powered. The engine makes 132 hp at 265 rpm.
