These are not "rations", they are treats. All German rations were supplied by food kitchens and then taken to the troops. They did not have anything like C or K rations.

Almost 70% was the wrong goods. Correct would have been: 1 x deli vitamin sweets, 2 x black tea, 2 x tube cheese 2 x hard biscuits 2 x 1 x pork in jelly preserves 1 x margarine 1 x jam field ration peach 1 x strawberry.Knorr pea sausage (dried peas, bacon powder, soup vegetables) pressed into drops, 2 of which make 500 ml of soup12 x Juno cigarettes 20 x Weltholzer matches.Scho Ka Kola dark ( the blue one comes 1992 on marked ) was Marketender ware ( Extra not for the normal Soldier only for fighters in missions or the Pilots of the Luftwaffe, and there is missing Pervertin Pills ( crystal meth now called ) . Nice new review Nathan. This replica looks great. Oberst is the german officer rank for Colonel and Zigaretten means cigaretts. The biscuit says Leibniz Butterkeks. A german brand that still exsists today. My favorite brand for butter cookies. The Smokes would be something for Oldsmokey.

One thing that was a common addition to many of the Rations, I believe their weekly Ration was a thing called Erbswurst. Think of freeze dried Split Pea Soup that is formed into Tablets and then packaged with seven Tablets in a Roll. Each Tablet made one cup of Soup. (They still make them and they don't taste bad. I carry them in my Emergency Kits.)

Imagine barely surviving somewhere in the east and getting your hands on a couple of these. Probably change your life haha

It's funny to think that cigarettes were standard in mre's back then.

Regular German ration: Hahnchenfleisch (chicken), Rinderbraten (roast beef) or Truthahabraten (turkey), Hartkeks or Knockobrot biscuits, Kondessupe (Tomato or split pea), Glocksklee condensed milk or Bohnenkaffee, sometimes Schokolade dark chocolate, plus matches and latrine paper.

Cool repro. German chocolate rations were sometimes laced with crank. Especially the ones they gave to tank crews.

Place potential stale/dried out smokes in the freezer for 2 hours then take out let sit for 15 minutes that should bring them back to life. FYI this tip for smokers of old MRE smokes not for Nathan

About the cigarettes: oberst is a military title - colonel in your language. The English name would be Colonel cigarettes.

I had to eat powdered eggs in the military and in VA hospital.......they don't taste like the best farm fresh eggs you ever had but they aren't bad by any means unless you never been hungry with nothing to eat

Quite amateur, the way of presenting this video. Do we really need to see wiping the products and useless knife talk? Focus on the products, open them, show them, showcase them, explain even possibly origins and reasons for using, etc. That would make it less boring and good for the channel! At the end of the war, my dad's squad captured German soldiers who were starving. It was either Check, or Romania, they anything my dad. I showed something like this Dad 15 years ago, nope they were starving.

"Wehrmacht" (VAIR makt) is literally "War Makers" and refers to the armed forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) of Germany.
