Absolutely! It drives me crazy when I see a news story about some guy who stuffed a bunch of great cars into a warehouse or barn and then just left them to sit and decay. I don't mind a rich guy who actually uses his money in a way that gives others some pleasure too, like Jay. I'll never own anything like these cars, but thanks to rich guys who don't just hide their jewels in a vault, these men share their love with us plebeians.

Jay, this without a doubt this is my favorite all time car. It is beautiful beyond description. I remember when I was a kid and saw a Lincoln Zephyr in a garage in Petaluma Ca. I thought it was this car. I was young and dumb but I was young. I so enjoy your web casts. For an old gentleman like me who is not wealthy but an avid car fans it's like I actually get to experience these wonderful pieces of art. Thank you so much. John

Figoni and Falaschi created some of the most stunning artworks in automotive history, with achingly beautiful designs. If you think something like this is amazing in a video, it pales in comparison to witnessing in person. I've been fortunate enough to see some of these very artworks at a few Concours events, and they're just drop-dead gorgeous. I've even seen the 1939 Delahaye shown on the turntable in the brief footage of Mr. Mullin's museum, which also made an appearance in one of the Transformers movies. These Figoni and Falaschi designs always attract enormous crowds at such events, as you might well imagine.

It would be nice with the stream lined stuff if they showed the underside , to see if the effort had been made were it also counts . Always impressed with Citroen for their efforts with some of their models , to get it smooth all over ..... this looks like it may be a little hairy up under .

Dealing with a complicated electro-mechanical device like an 80-year-old pre-selector gearbox is like unto keeping an antique watch working correctly - hard to find the "guy" to get it that way; hard to keep it that way; likely to be as much a frustration as a pleasure. Great when it's working correctly.

I'd guess jay broke it, frankly jay is an awful driver and he couldn't even hold a slide in an frs. I love you jay but you need to spend about 6 months at bondurant and then another 6 at skip barber. Btw thats also about a 5-8+ million dollar car that will only go up, but remember he has had it for 30 years but does he sell it? No he spends his money on it and taking it around so fans can see it. Talbot Lago is just as respectable and sought after brand as Bugatti. I love how everyone judges a guy by how he looks instead of all the wonderful information he provides. There is a reason he owns this car . . . I think the key to all this is that Jay wasn't pushing the clutch all the way down to the floor. Apparently the mechanical linkage required the disengagement and shift, and Jay didn't achieve the shift. A follow-up showing a reset or adjustment to the linkage would have made a great clip . . . Yes, he was grimacing as Jay drove it! Reminds me of the first time my Dad let me learn using a clutch/5-speed in his Fiat 124 coupe. I did manage to learn in one session the W-clutch/accelerator moves and even doing turnarounds.

Mr. Pinkshirt....the perfect shape in nature is a sphere. A teardrop is the shape of a liquid attached to something just before it breaks free. A raindrop may start out as a sphere but due to wind resistance its shape distorts as it falls to Earth. At no time will it become an aerodynamic "teardrop" .

It was disappointing that the gear box was stuck, but I have to admit that the car is so special that I'd be afraid to even touch it. I'd put my paws all over a Veyron, but this car is really an art object. It is to me one of the few cars that really deserves the velvet rope treatment.

This guy explaining why he thinks this is the most beautiful french car, and the whole "teardrop" and "nature" thing gosh it just completely blew my mind. He sounds so authentic and enthusiastic because, actually, it's true, you just can't improve on nature, this car as it stands still looks so right and i just can't see anything wrong with it. Huge respect for that gentlemen. I'm not a huge fan of vintage cars but this changed my way of looking at cars forever! Great Video

Jay starts the car in gear, pops the clutch back on, "Bing!". Hey, not blaming Jay. Car with wheel on wrong side, 3 buttons to push, and a dohickey column shift requiring clutch and gas feathering foot action, BOTH feet. While cameras rolling and the owner looking stern and worried something is about to go wrong (maybe until that moment, he'd forgotten he didn't learn the nuances of operation on the fly himself?). Amazing car. Considering the era, just jaw dropping how advanced it was. Other than the front fenders being a bit bulbous to my eye, it's just fantastic.

HELMUT ALTO A riveting read but almost all complete and utter bollocks. France's war wins amount to very little in the grand scheme of things and their famous ruinning away is famous because they're best at it. As for the world war stuff - don't make me laugh. France was one of the first occupied countries and stayed that way pretty much start to end. It only survived at all through other countries help. The French make some good chese, wine and have a very nice climate to go on holiday in. Their cars and army are pretty rubbish though. The morale here is know what you're good at and stick to it.

Well, I just learned I've been mispronouncing the name of my very first car for 61 years!! I grew up not too far from Jay, in Reading, Ma and in 1958, at age 14, I wanted an old car to work on. My Dad was in an English car phase (He had a Hillman) and somehow, his friends at "British Continental Motors" in Boston convinced him they had the perfect car for me to work-on. For $100.00, they delivered to my driveway an English 1949 Sunbeam Talbot 90. Since then I had always pronounced it "TalBOT", now I learn it's "TalBEAU. I guess you're never too old to learn a thing or two. Though it didn't run at the time (and never did) the body was in great condition and had a lot of the design elements of the Talbot-Lago: similar front end though the headlights were in the fenders, those fenders were gracefully curved in that same teardrop style, into the rest of the body, the back half of which was rather boxy. Unfortunately, even just getting a set of Whitworth spanners took 6 months and getting engine parts near impossible. It ended up departing my driveway the same way it came: on a hook.
