We know all know Packard, known as the larger of the "three P's of luxury" along with Peerless and Pierce Arrow. Packard would survive the second world war and depression unlike the former two brands, but it would be mortally wounded, hanging on till the late 50's a disgrace and shell. But in 1941 Packard still made pretty decent cars, 1941 would be the first year for air conditioning on American cars, and the styling was top notch. 1941 would also be the final full year of auto production before the rest of the western world would march onto war.

A grand ride for sure. The 8 cylinder was a 268 in 1941, if I remember.

The last Packard meet I went to, the owner of a 1936 Packard allowed me to sit in the car behind the wheel. I cried then, and I am crying now.

GREAT video. Rural areas are the best place to drive a manual transmission car. I still occasionally take my daily driver (2002 plastic Saturn 5-speed stickshift) out to the rural / Amish areas of Indiana. Of course my 4-cylinder has more "pulses" than an 8 cylinder, particularly at lower RPM. But still a lot of fun.

Im glad i grew up when i did. I had the privilege of driving or riding in some of the finest American iron …. I have a few myself …. So when kids tell me im old .. i say back to them. Ya i nay be old …. But i drove and rode in cars you’ll never be in

With all the noisy showy cars there are today a quiet one is a blessing..has. anyone ever done a sound comparison ?which was quieter a Rolls-Royce or a Packard?

If you hear the original Rolls Royce Silver Ghost running you would be shocked how quiet it is, although the transmission on this Packard makes less noise.
