I take a close look at the P-47 sitting in Seattle at the Museum of Flight. This airplane stayed in the States during the war and worked as a trainer. By 1949 it was transferred to the Bolivian Air Force. In 1976 it was rescued by an American investor and returned to the states. It spent five years getting restored and reskinned in Carlsbad California. The airplane was in the Champlin Fighter Museum in Arizona until being purchased with a group of airplanes by this museum. It is airworthy but not likely to ever fly again. Worth the visit.
