Interesting. Disappointing, initially, that you chose not to dissect the two words in question, still; I think you made the right choices in providing the Links and referencing Dr Shelly's Book - Thank You. Rosaria Butterfield argues 'Orientation' is a Mask for, or attempt to Legitimise, Sin = the missing of God's Definition, Intention, Context, Application. (She was a non-believing Lesbian, is now Saved, married) I always held: All the other things 1Cor6:9-10 mentions can't reasonably be argued to be 1 accepted as 'Orientations' 2 exempted from God's Judgements, Answers, or Forgiveness.

Unfortunately Rosaria Butterfield is neither a biblical expert nor an expert in homosexuality. Her opinions on the subject are of very little use and are extremely damaging to gay Christians.

@@KyleSletten That's your opinion. And 'fair enough' - that's where you stand personally. 'Experts' are not, by any measure at all, the sole or final authority, or only credible opinion on a given subject, or any subject. She rebukes Christians who affirm Homosexuality as being part of God's Image and directs her audiences to repentance of their sin whilst encouraging the truth: that homosexuality, (along with all of the other sins 1Cor 6 v9-1 mentions) is not to be sanctified and protected by Christians, but forsaken, repented of, by God's grace and the constant help of the Holy Ghost. That's her whole argument, thus she agrees with God. Supremely 'Useful' of anyone In Christ, and super 'useful' of someone from Academia. (No?) Be Reminded: When Jesus came to earth, people thought they were opposing a person who said things 'extremely damaging' to their paradigm, but they were opposing God - they murdered him to defend their positions and justified themselves as defenders of God/ The Truth/their Community. Jesus identified their positions as Satanic. Correctly. Rosaria Butterfield was a lesbian before she accepted Christ and correctly submits that the Freudian assertions and Obergefell legal status that affirm Sexual Orientation as part of the Identity of Humanity - but not part of unreconciled, fallen humanity awaiting Redemption - are in direct opposition to God's definition of what Humankind are: Image-bearers of God, made Male and Female: most 'useful' (No?). She's In Christ, has the Holy Ghost and is a Scholar with experience, deep understanding of, and published works relating to, homosexuality - in the personal, religious and political arenas, so I, myself, won't accept her opinions being as summarily diminished or as easily dismissed as you state they should be in your ad hominin non-answer to her argument.

Thanks for your comments. I wrestled with whether or not to discuss the theological issues. Perhaps that will follow at some point. I’m familiar with Rosaria Butterfield and her backstory. I remember her story that led to her conversion.

I found a Video of Dr Shelly giving an interesting interview on KZfaq about his book, which is too expensive for me at the moment, at $30. I may relent as it's substantial; but I went straight to buy it on Amazon! Aye, she's seemingly a lone brave voice, (I know she's not alone, tho'). - or is she just the currently accepted opposition to the unbiblical positions she rebukes? I don't know - Mayhap, Father raised her up!
