I needed to replace the actuating lever for the Powr-Trol. I still don't understand (or forget) why the correct spelling is "Powr Trol"

About putting the lever in the other side, if you shoved it in that far youll be into the battery box

Daniel, the hole opposite the woodruff key is to use a small punch to drive out the woodruff key.

I have a 1949 G, the rock shaft on my powr trol is straight through each side and the lever can be swept from the left side to the right by slackening a clamp and switching sides with the woodruff key

I can change the lever from side to side on my 60. Guessing the older s style shaft can be replaced with the newer style but not sure.

Looks the same, except my shaft is straight and comes through both sides. I will send you a photo but don’t know how to do that on this site

My powr trol appears to be off a John Deere 70. The must be interchangeable.

Ok, Kyle Weber just posted a video of his 47 A. He has the same powr trol as mine. Their must have been different options.?

@@charliemacrae1045 parts book shows there were at least 2 shafts. One must have been longer. There were also multiple housings.

If only screw on is damaged, weld a pipe coupling and screw on short pipe, if that is the only problem, you are asking for trouble.

I think what you are suggesting is a way to fix it without taking it apart correct? If so, yes there are a bunch of other ways you can create a handle again for it. I just want it to look and be original again. In this scenario, that involves replacing the broken piece.

Why take all of that off to replace the shaft? Get a bolt that's the correct thread and cut the threads off of the bolt and weld it to the end of the shaft...it's a whole easier.

It was the new and improved hydraulic system at the time. Previously, the hydraulics just went full up or full down. Powr-trol allowed for fine adjustment such as plow depth. It also allowed for slow and fast movement.
