Why is it that when I watch a modern day night routine I don’t feel productive, but when I watch a 1950’s night routine I feel like cleaning my room and taking a bath. 🤔😂

My household was never without Ponds cold cream and Nivea. Children of all ages had chores. Families prayed together, ate together and spent Sundays together with extended family. We talked to each other. We walked everywhere. Simpler times I wish I could relive.

This is great for people who grew up without structure or routine. The world is so fast the small stuff like pampering and loving meals have been forgotten. Its hard to find a routine that works. We’re all different but structure is necessary for everyone. It has been a long struggle in this life for me creating one that works but your videos are very inspiring and motivating. Thank you! ♥️

This woman, back in the 50s would have been a full-time home-maker so she would have all day to do things around the house. That was typically her job back then. Nowadays, with both spouses having to work just to pay the mortgage and bills, there’s little time for this kind of home management. We shouldn’t feel inadequate because of that. Besides, a bit of dust or clutter hurt no one and will be still there when there is more time to tend to it.

In the 50s my grandfather would come home, send my dad and his brothers out to play and sit my grandma down with a glass of sherry, some rolled cigarettes and a magazine. He died in 1974, 7 years before I was born, no wonder my grandma still missed him and spoke of him fondly until her death in 2007

What does hubby do while you’re doing all of this? After dinner my mother and father sat and watched the news or read the newspaper. I remember my mother and father going to bed together. This was 1960. Daddy worked for NASA and mother was an at home mother. Every evening father came home with his big grey thermos which held his coffee. He smelled of a freshly pressed suit and double-mint gum. Ahhh...thanks for the memories. ☀️ I love your channel!💖

i'm adverse to amount of patience and dedication required in the brushing one's hair at least 50 strokes a day to keep it healthy and shiny, but I'm all for the lavender scented bubble bath and the potatoes covered in that rich creamy sauce! Also when they acted out "greet your husband gaily at the door" that part made me chuckle!

Something that my mom taught me when working with raw potatoes was to keep them in a bowl of cold water while whole or even cut so that they don't go brown. The potato water can then be used for soups or gravy afterwards. Lovely channel. Thank you. ❤
@Natalia-hd2xy
@Natalia-hd2xy 3 жыл бұрын
This goes for most fruit and vegetables as they tend to brown from oxidization! For fruit you can also squeeze lemon juice over them to prevent browning. As long as the oxygen flow is cut off, they shouldn't turn brown.

I have a 3 yr old and a 5 yr old. Not every day is easy, but they are much more manageable than they were when I had a newborn and a 2 yr old. If you have babies I'd say just try to focus on them and don't push yourself too far until they're a bit older. The trick is to not expect too much. My house gets cleaned, but not all at one time. For example, today I did the bathrooms and couldn't get the showers cleaned. That's alright, I'll do it another day. When I cook, I try to make healthy foods that don't require much prep work. The kids eat a lot of fruit. Lol. Tomorrow I'm throwing a chicken and some cut up veggies in the oven for dinner. Yesterday I did a 12 minute yoga workout because that's all the time I had. Breaking the work into small, manageable chunks is key for me.

My mom and grandma are my favorite cooks and of course I get my cooking from them by being in the kitchen watching them and wanting to cook as well too also as a child. My favorite chef of all times was always Julia Childs and I would watch her everytime I could catch her on tv at my grandparents. I get my love for old fashion stuff from them like western, music, vintage furniture, clothes, and etc but of course I love my modern stuff too as well.

I learned to cook in mid 1970's from the old Betty Crocker cookbook & I still use it often. I still use Pond's as well. Some things just never go out of style or work as well as the older stuff. I used to read before bed but fell into the tv trap but going back to reading soon. Great memories this video.

Your skin care routine is so simple yet feels so luxurious when you do it. I have tried all of the products from the facial cleansing bar, ponds cold cream, and the Olay pink cream and I love it! My skin feels wonderful. Honestly I didn't have any sort of skin care products besides a bottle of lotion before I saw how wonderful your routine seemed. And it is so affordable! A lovely way to pamper yourself without breaking the bank. Thanks so much!

I switched to using Ponds cold cream to remove makeup - it’s incredibly effective, but I find it a little oily so it needs to we cleansed off properly after wiping. I used to use Olay from way back when my mum used it (and it was called Oil of Ulan!), and also Nutrimetics apricot kernel oil and Nivea cream. Wow I feel old! 😂 I’ve realised I own the same lippy Sage touches up in this video. It’s a lovely shade.
